Yes, finally another building that Shangri-La will be able to relate to on it's own level.

Very soon Vancouver's three tallest buildings will all be finished between 2008 and 2015. Kinda puts Toronto's building boom in perspective.

Way to go Hongcouver

I figure 745 Thurlow must be close to topping out.

This building still looks terribly underwhelming.

How many more floors to go? It doesn't look like a 616 foot tower to me knowing that the shangri la is 659feet.

This is probably stating the obvious but, in my opinion the reason it doesnt look like a 616 foot tower, is because it isnt (yet).

And re trump. Even if it were the same height as Shang it'll still appear shorter from the vantage point of od pics

You misinterpreted what I stated. I know it hasn't topped out. I'm asking how many floors till it tops out because if it's only 10, then it'll remain pretty underwhelming.

I've noticed that, too, but I think it is often due to the angle or perspective from where the photos were taken. Walking past the finished product on Georgia will no doubt still be pretty impressive.

Living in Downtown I am sure you have seen it in person and know that it is anything but underwhelming. Even if we are only missing 10-ish floors, this tower is going to look fantastic. One of the best towers in Vancouver IMO.

yeah, I have only seen it form these pics, and it is looking far away from underwhelming, and with 10 more floors to go plus the crown, it is going to look amazing!

I think you are mistaken. To me a week ago it looked to be on floor 49 or 50.

even at that, it has about 13 more floors to go. I can't understand the increasing pessimism about this building. When finished, it'll be just fine.

Trump is a solid skyscraper. 745 Thurlow could be taller. On the whole though, we have a damn good skyline that's always getting better.
Too bad about the height restrictions in the city.
Not sure if the Brisbane comparison has been made here but a similarly sized city with a couple residential buildings much taller than anything here. Van downtown is just as much a destination as Brisbane.
