Jasper House looks great, though I find the podium a bit strange.

I really like the tower of Jasper House but the podium is dreadful.

It looks like a 1960s low rise office building and has is very pedestrian unfriendly both in design and appearance. It looks like one of those neighbourhood Hydro buildings in small city with a beautiful tower plopped on top.

It could be a very nice building but the podium simply has to go.

Yeah - Jasper house is a great looking tower. But that podium… yikes.

I don't mind modern takes on brick facades, but these blank rectangular brick wall segments with nothing around them remind me of 1970s stripmalls, post offices in the suburbs.

Why is everyone bitching about the podium? The place is surrounded by parking lots, at least get rid of those first give the building some context to contrast with AND THEN complain about the podium, Lol!

Jasper House reminds me of Peter Street Condos, another aA design in Toronto's Entertainment District:

Half naked people of either — in the food service industry seems like a bad move.

Unless she's lactating a couple — is more hygienic than her head. — restaurant kind of went by the wayside decades ago anyways at least in the GTA.

Jasper House podium reminds me of the Four Seasons Toronto. I actually find the aesthetics attractive. I just don't like how it meets the sidewalk. Hopefully, there's an entrance on the side to retail and preferably a restaurant. That will change things drastically. It's not a cheap podium by any means.

Well to be fair, the whole waterfront project is a mega project in residential terms. The part that he was focussing on was a small part of it though that I wouldn't consider at all to be "mega". He always hates on Edmonton though which is very unfortunate. I don't think he was actually trying to "trump" anything, as the render he posted is so pixelly it's hard to even see what it looks like, it just hadn't been posted on here yet, and it's a very interesting development for the future of Calgary's riverfront area.

Posting the same 5 projects over and over and over again in duplicate messages sent to various threads is considered spam, look it up.

I'm trying very hard and with the most open-minded position possible, but I can't seem to get what everyone likes about that Jasper House. This to me looks very bland and devoid of even one single idea.

I like the tower but the podium looks like something from the early 90's / 80's. Yuck!
