Moderate and well thought out, as always Floobie. Thanks

The footprint of the Calgary skyline is rapidly consuming the sparse areas around it. This hasn't happened since the early 80's. Its lateral expansiveness will be considerably larger in a few short tears, especially north to south.

and the South shore mostly. The city of Montréal (1.7M+) has ~500k more people than Calgary in an area 2.26x smaller.

That divide in the picture (rail/road + tons of parking) reminds me a lot of Toronto's Gardiner Express (?) + the trains coming into Union Stations. It is really too bad how the cities get divided like that. I think Ottawa is lucky in that it shifted its central rail station outside the city.

In a developed region 3x as old. Are you done yet?

relax, look

The Skyline is close, but only because low and mid rise buildings don't really show up in a skyline, and Montreal destroys Calgary in this area. Those aerials show why Montreal has nearly double the population of Calgary though.
it is easier to understand when using real numbers

That also pushes land intensive uses like land fills and airports outside city limits and doesn't have any undeveloped land banks or massive parks. It is apples to oranges.

AMAZING Montreal shots. I've always ranked MTL as a solid #2 in this country but that set just reaffirms its position.

I also stared at EACH picture in that set. I don't think I could do that with any other skyline in this country. (Excluding Toronto because I see its skyline everyday on my way to work)

Darn people underselling Montreal. It's the #1 skyline. Toronto has numbers, but the overall form design is iffy. Calgary is much better balanced than Toronto, so I think fills the #3 spot after Vancouver. Toronto gets 4th. A city it's size and age should have a better sense of balance.

It appears that you forgot to include Chicoutimi's skyline, which would push Toronto's skyline to number 5.

I'd rate Chicoutimi's skyline ahead of Calgary. It is in a developed region that is 3x as old!

Getting mad because people are showing Love for Montreal's skyline is just...beyond petty.

^ look at Toronto giving the finger ha, or is that a phallic symbol?

Both of Edmonton's and Calgary's skyline are more impressive height wise than Ottawa's, and they are roughly the same size.

Why am I shrugging my shoulders and not having the urge to shoot myself??

Montreal's metro is also 3x the size of Ottawa's..So, obviously Ottawa shouldn't pick that skyline fight either.

Others really try too hard... Seriously..

remind you of anyone?
