I really hope we get something like San Diego. Wow. That is a beauty

I wouldn't worry to much about OR leaving. As long as they know it is coming and will be complete by 2018, they will stay.
As the hotel will have close to or over an another 100,000 sq ft of space (meeting/ballroom/exhibit) that will be controlled by the County, this will give OR an additional 100,000 sq ft of space for their exhibitors.
Those that have had a chance to explore OR know the desperate need for more room for the exhibitors.
Because of this, I would expect it to be built on only a few locations (direct connection will be key for expansion) dropping anything that crosses the street from the Salt Palace 4 block area. This does include the RWP block as a direct connection to the SPCC is possible here without needing a waiver for a sky bridge.
This would remove 3 or 4 possible locations from selection. This still leaves 4 locations that would be great for the CCH while providing expansion possibilities for the SPCC to connect with the CCH with both exhibit and meeting spaces.
