Which part of 5959 Yonge being part of the city of Toronto do you not understand. Toronto ends at Steeles. This is south of Steeles whereas Richmond Hill is further north.

Was this the hotel they were talking about on YUL?

The design is quite discouraging, why can't we get something like Toronto's Shangri La

You're right, the appearance is very unattractive and looks chintzy and dated.

I know, but we are just trying to feel a little better by bashing the building. + For the site, this design really ins't so good.

The design looks great. Kind of reminds of a whale that swallowed the LRT train from that viewpoint.

Would be nice in theory that the LRT could co-exist with the street so nicely like the elevated Skytrain does in Vancouver. However, my only issue is that the tunnel entrance will probably not look so ideal and be so pedestrian friendly as the picture suggests once all the LRT infrastructure is put in place..ie C-train power lines/towers; signals, guard rails for traffic etc.

And what about the noise factor?...seems every LRT system I have been on has wheels that really squeal especially on the turns...

It's a simulacra of the Marriott Courtyard/Hilton Garden Inn template. It's glass, it's 120m (probably) and it's gonna be on a site that was an abandoned garage yard for the past 50 years. It's going to bring hundreds of tourists and apartment renters into the neighbourhood.

I'll take it.

/\ That new Holiday Inn doesn't have an once of architecture in it, but what can we expect from bargain chain like this ? At least it's not insultingly ugly, it will rise straight up from the side walk and will be an ok filler betweem the more showy YUL towers and all the stuff going up around the Bell Center. So I'll take it as well, hoping that the materials will be at least ok. It's a Holiday Inn, not a Shangri La or a Four Seasons. We have to be realistic.

Yeah, since 2.0 usually means an improved version.
