we need more open minded people in city council, like australia. too many closed minded people on government level here. this city could be much more progressive in terms of development, but the closed mindedness of so many on the government is what's slowing us down. need major change!

Here's for the future generations to remember how the block looked like before construction began.

I am still unclear whether the 7 Eleven site will be part of the development or not?

Retail along Hornby Street is vacant, but they are still trying to lease it?

Empty lot. There used to be a mural on the wall, but it has been since painted over. I am guessing that is because of the car service moving elsewhere.

Two remaining houses are still occupied, but in bad shape. Nobody is going to be missing these two.

Car lots are now empty.

Mussette Caffe is still open and based on Yelp a hidden gem. Never been there.

This view will look very different in 5 years time.

So is the Toyota dealership going to stay out on broadway or what? The announcement of their moving on their website doesn't say anything about temporary or that they're coming back dot at some point. However, in the renders there is a car dealership clearly visible...

They should stay out on broadway. A car dealership downtown? Talk about an anti-urban use of space. Who goes downtown to buy a car anyways??

People downtown also need a place to have their cars repaired and serviced. We only live in Vancouver part-time but if I lived in Yaletown year round I would definitely consider buying a Toyota from a dealer close by.

Car dealers are anti urban?? Look at the ones on burrard for example. Car dealerships don't automatically mean surface lots

I can't tell you how wonderful it is to drop my car off for service and walk back home all in under 15 minutes. The best urban realms have everything you need in close proximity.

I do the same at JP Toyota right now. It will be a minor pain while they are out of the area for at least 2-3 years now.

As far as buying a new car, there's no reason I wouldn't go there.

In the first set of pictures (the one that is a split panel) why are the floors in the building on the right sloped about 15 degrees out of level? Musette Caffe is indeed a gem. Great coffee and the best place in the city to watch cycling. They have another location on East Pender as well, although not as neat as this one. I believe Thomas (the owner) said he is there into early next year until he moves into the Modern development on Burrard. The new location will undoubtably have better street presence (and a patio) and should help it expand its core customer base of cyclists. Hopefully they are able to replicate some of the feeling of the current location.
