Yeah, wow. You are really starting to see the cumulative effect of year after year of building boom in Toronto. It's pretty amazing... the skyline has changed so much in the last 5 or 6 years.

YC Condos, just to the north is going to start construction soon, and it's just a meter or two short of 200 meters,. That will keep it company until something bigger comes along in addition to blocking out most of Aura from this angle..

In the meantime a few 500 footers is going up around the area (501/Karma/), and further north Wellesley on the Park (194 meters) will connect it to Yorkville Skyline and blunt its impact.

I actually like the effect aura has. It seemingly all isolated and shit. Going bak to our discussion on montreal's western downtown, I would love to see a 120-150m tower go up somewhere between guy and Atwater. What a sight that would be. (Of course though this will NEVER be allowed.)

THE one people forget about that will be 600 feet is the one just north of RCMI, they just changed the name?? (looks like 4S) BUILT ON TOP OF EXISTING TOWER, from the west esp, it will look 700 feet, ( bein 2 blocks closer)and shade Auras south side nicely!!

Sears/Willis Tower is about 150m taller than its closest neighbour yet Chicago skyline is often considered one of the best in the world. Why does everything have to fit so neatly together? A sense of awe and grandeur isn't created by everything being proper and predictable. Its created by being bold dynamic.

That's because the "Tall" buildings are spread out in several areas of Downtown! I'm partial, but it's my favorite skyline in NA.... After NYC!

Agreed. It's nice for a skyline to have a focal point, but that doesn't mean that height should always be corralled into a small area.

No, but it's more pleasant visually to have a skyline that looks like a dome IMO. It's easier on the eyes. That doesn't mean Aura makes Toronto's skyline ugly, it's just weird to see such a massive tower pop out of nowhere. Aura belongs in the CBD.

Aura is just the tallest of the many towers that will soon be lining Yonge St. It looks out of place and lonely now, but it wont be too long before that perception will change in the eyes of many.

Give it about five years there will be a wall of skyscrapers from the CBD to Yorkville, similar in shape to the skyline of Midtown Manhattan (though far less dense). Aura will still appear as one of the taller peaks, but it will eventually fit in much better. Massey Tower and the Residences of 488 University, for example, are two 200+ metre towers that will soon fill in the gap between Aura and the CBD, and Wellesley on the Park and YC Condos are two 190+ metre towers that will fill the gap between Aura and Bloor. There will also be a handful of 150-175 metre towers sprinkled throughout.
