There is the possibility of course but Condor kind of fits this niche right now. I could see a jump from Condor to Jump but..... Same at YVR I doubt we would see LH, DE and Jump. Unless of course they fly out of MUC, DUS or BER.

Effective 8 January Westjet adding a third daily to PSP....

After this addition, Wesjet is exceeding last winter's transborder capacity out of YYC. More than making up for the loss of MIA now.

As for the LH low-cost operation, if they did come back to YYC I'd love to see the flight originate in MUC.

Nice! I like the timing of this flight. Evening departures to US leisure destinations work well as people can put in a full day at the office and still start their vacations the same day.

IMO IFP is going to feel empty when it first opens, but that is because it's only going to serve 5M pax initially and has a larger combined holdroom (ie. post security) footprint than the current ATB. (I'm sure many will appreciate this though - as I frequently hear that WS Concourse A feels overcrowded.)

This will be especially evident in the Transborder holdroom where the majority of flights leave first thing in the AM or early in the day - evening flights to the US like this one are exactly what we need - and with the new restaurants & bars going in IFP it'll be a perfect fit to grab some good eats and buds with your buds to start your vacation!

Lufthansa did mention North America in addition to Asia, India, etc. for possible Jump destinations.

Would love to have them back at YYC, even if it's summer only. AC downgauging to 789, and LH Jump operating 4-5 weekly A343?

Jump will only operate from FRA I believe.

That sounds like it could work but it would still be a further increase in seats from a daily AC 77W. If necessary AC could go all the way to a 788 and have LH Jump do 4-5 weekly like you said. However this option will result in a reduction of J seats on YYC-FRA and a large increase in Y.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't Condor owned entirely by LH? would LH Jump just take over the seasonal service that Condor offers and increase frequency a little?

Seems different from Condor. Condor is part of Thomas Cook I believe?

Owned by Lufthansa and Thomas cook group but I'm not sure what the percentages are.

Just finished a whirlwind trip to YYC, YEG and YYZ.

- Positives, are they're is certainly room for flights to Alberta from Mexico (on a scheduled basis), Volaris has intentions to serve the Canadian market in due time from MEX. The lift shows that 4-5 weekly flights could be sustainable into Alberta with potential for increased service during the cold winter months with onward connections to various points throughout Mexico and onward from MEX.

-Negatives, until the Canadian government eases restrictions it complicates things at this point. Visas are the major issue and although it looked that Canada would ease it's position on this matter they at this point have not. The Mexican and canadian governments have alot of work to complete before these flights would materialize. So for now MEX-Alberta remains a tour operators market and in time may see the return of scheduled operations.

Yeah, I mentioned this a while back. I've heard "by more than a few months", though that was not corroborated when I brought it up.

Well KL has already increased the 777 flights for next summer to YYC. There will be 1 extra 777 day bringing the total to 4.

I sort of expect to see some sort of response by AC to try to protect the YYC hub with KL entering the YEG market.

I don't, really. If YEG folk are to be believed, AC doesn't care about YEG. In seriousness, obviously they have recently upped our FRA and LHR in the summer, and are starting YYZ-AMS again. Not sure if they need any further response to KL for the moment.

For what it's worth, CTV just posted an article saying IFP will be on time.

Somebody keep an eye on Flight24 tonight. Maybe there are more RAF goodies coming tomorrow, here's hoping more 787s but a big red airbus would do just fine instead..

I didn't know KL is doing YEG next summer, that is great news for the city and all of Alberta. Glad KLM has faith in both cities to bring some profit to the market.

By the way my rouge flight to LAX was pretty awesome! I would certainly fly with them again under one condition... I sit on the exit rows (which I snagged during both legs)
The Ipad rental was only 10 bucks which was ok and it has lots of things to watch and keep entertained, it was in a nice cute rouge maroon sleeve.
Pop jus and water was free while booze started at 6.50 up to 10 bucks, which is similar to what my hotel charges during banquets. Mac and Cheese meal is about 10 bucks too with a beverage and snack combo. Lots of upsell opportunities for the staff who are encouraged I guess to get customers to buy. Flight back must of had a nice tailwind as I don't ever recall LAX-YYC being in the 2hr half range. Secretly I bet we were probably flying at overspeed haha..

That's exactly why, in addition the A333 will be used occasionally on the route to YEG.

Seems KL has quite a bit of fleet flexibility.
