WS Just announced YHZ-GLA for S15.

Im sure the dots to Europe will add up in summer S16 after the 763's finish the Hawaii runs for the season.

Has me thinking the carrier will target the more ''Transat'' type markets.

Indeed. Fairly good intro pricing too, round trip YYC->GLA is sub $800. Any other routing I can find is $1200+

Nice! Any International (and I mean real international, not just sun destinations) expansion to new airports by WS is good news for us. Although, for S15 I’m not sure I would fly this route to GLA, checking random dates in June and Transat is about $180-200 more and that is for a direct flight on a widebody (with a meal!). What this means though is come S16, we could see WS flying these routes direct out of YYC which would shake things up.

Is it still experimental? Wikipedia says production has begun with deliveries this year. If that's the case I'd bet it was a sales trip. Lots of jet money in calgary.

It was brought in as a demo by skyservice business aviation for a potential client to demo. I managed to talk to one of the ramp guys at the avitat before we departed.

Intresting article I just read about Encore planning for heavy expansion out of Toronto and new U.S. Destinations being added from "both sides" of the country...

Hmmm... I wonder what Q400 routes western canada will see across the border?

That might partially depend on who you ask. A number of people in the aerospace community don't consider Concorde to have ever left prototyping through its many decades of service.

Some talk over on A.net about new LH "hybrid" (psuedo low-cost) long haul starting operations, initially with 8 A340's in a less business/first heavy config. LH is also looking at a Low Cost Long Haul option.

Initially they want to go to Thailand, India, Vietnam etc. but what are the chances we could see them restarting YYC. Either from FRA or MUC. Seems like LH's version of AC Rouge and from what I understand their old A340 flight used to be full in the back but struggle up front - maybe something like this could do well in YYC and compliment existing AC FRA service. Or would a combined ~ 600 seats a day to Germany just be too much? Thoughts?

I for one am excited about the possibilities of the "rouge-ing" of some of the big guys (AC, LH, etc.), could mean more flights for YYC where we are still $ sensitive. And I just miss this bird.

Was just going to mention this. Its a real possibility, since this ''version'' will be less dependent on yields for price sensitive markets.
