Saw that. Anybody know what's planned for the site? I don't recall ever seeing a Proposed Development signboard or anything...

I'm really enjoying the exposed, glass-clad stairwells throughout the Lido complex. For some reason they fell out of fashion after the 50's; but I've always found them to have a timeless and modern look, while serving to nicely bookend the slabs.

On the other side of the building as well:

I agree that glass stairwells are nice touches. They seem very early modern Bauhaus to me. Its good to see a few recent developments utilizing them.

Sorry, I forgot what the last numbers were. I guess a few boats left and took their poop with them.

Some digging on Concert's property between Science World and Olympic Village??

Now you can drive/walk on road between Central and Lido

Block 100 is coming along... you can see they've already poured the first ceiling in the forefront and much of the walls around the perimeter.

Not entirely sure where to put this... But I have a bit of a random question:

Does anybody know why a project like One Pacific required sheet piling for the excavation/underground parkade, while projects in SEFC don't? For example, Central/Lido/Block 100/etc. have all used basic shoring (shotcrete?) for excavation, despite being built on reclaimed land (the Flats) so close to False Creek.

Hopefully that even made sense...

"We first saw Meccanica three years ago when it was heading to the Urban Design Panel.
...
Originally the project had a townhouse base, but that was revised to introduce a showroom and light industrial uses for the vehicle manufacturer recently located on the site. Intermeccanica have manufactured a replica Porsche classic sports car for over 50 years, and supposedly return (once the final sales have been completed)."

I heard Cressey is charging Meccanica residents for NEU hook-up. Is that true? Supposed to be included already. If that's true, then it would be immoral.

This condo building, although modern, looks somewhat like a government or health institution such as a hospital building. I don't know, that's just my opinion.

All of these new SEFC buildings have roller shades instead of blinds, I think that may lead to a more "institutional" look, although it doesn't bug me too much.

The NEU charge is interesting if true. What happened at Opsal? or Central? Lido? Anything else that is move-in ready.

The Concert presentation center must be for their big project.. I've heard it will be marketed in early 2015.

The sheet piling at One Pacific is only along the BC Place Access road if I recall. Sheet piling will occur in Vancouver when a. you have a persnickety landlord who won't grant you a shoring/underpinning agreement or b. there are some form of underground services that may be under that access road that would prevent the proper underpinning patterns required to give the support needed.

I moved into my unit last year. No NEU hook up fee for me. Our NEU fees are the strata's responsibility, not individually tracked though. Hopefully now that these additional units are being completed, my building NEU fees will remain constant or go down due to spreading out the capital costs amongst more customers. I doubt that, but that's what the NEU rep said at our AGM.

Are they removing the vertical "MECCANICA" banner from the corner of the building?

Does anyone have any info on the telephone poles in the area being put underground?

Thanks for the info. I pre-purchased in Block 100, and noted that the initial strata budget has ~$100k for NEU annually. So it sounds like something similar, although without per-unit billing for resources, that doesn't help conservation efforts.

The big banner is to promote sales I'd imagine.

Which building are you in?

I think that's a metal screen and permanent.
