Easy to explain in YVR's case (although 3 weekly) for cruise ship season.

In YYC's case I am sure it still comes down to summer tourists and the Banff draw for weekly holidays through the Rockies and then the summer originating YYC tourists weekly holidays down Florida way I guess.

Didn't Delta at one time fly ATL-YYC regularly on a charter basis? How does the current scheduled flight line-up with the previous charters?

DL could use a single or double daily flight to either of ATL or DTW Dal to the seats would be more useful than another LAX service.
Have we ever had DTW service? While it would be a good launching point to the East, for some reason I feel DL doesn't seem to have much interest in the East coast to Western Canada market. While researching flights to LGA this summer, the connection through MSP never showed up - though this may have been an isolated instance, or the flight may have been sold out. I think they are more interested in West Coast expansion (SEA, LAX, hopefully maintaining SLC - which I think was 4-5X daily 757 at some point many years ago). Side note - the DL flights to MSP and SLC are the only US carrier operated flights I haven't flown on out of YYC.

While ATL is the biggest hole in YYC's network, my sources tell me that the sector length & changing of two time zones combined with thinness of the O&D just doesn't make this route viable, especially when nearly all destinations are already served from DFW & IAH. While a daily to ATL would be nice, it may cut into WS's MCO direct service as well as hamper our chances of getting the elusive direct MIA and/or FLL service(s) resumed.

AA has downguaged the afternoon DFW to 319 equipment. Unsure if permanent.

Yeah I'm guessing this is the first actual AA 319 (which are all sharkletted) at Calgary and not US.

2x A319 now to DFW so that is 44 total seats less than 2x 738, or 24 total seats less than 2x MD-80 for a total loss of 720 transborder seats per month vs last winter. I have not flown YYC-DFW since YEG started so I wonder if it's a factor, or it might be as simple as the accelerated mad dog retirement has rendered those unavailable and they want the 738 for Caribbean flying or something.

Well yeah I'm not at all in the know and even I look at ATL-YYC and wonder how it's feasible. How nice of them to try, though...

YYC-DFW goes back to 2 daily 738s on 18 December. That appears to be indefinite from that date forward. So it's probably just a shoulder season adjustment. So back to a gain!

Yes 77L is 42/228 and the 333 is 37/228 so all additional J seats.

Now go fill those!!

Fin 701 is here again, the 77L from FRA... so I was definitely wrong about the rotation as we've had the same plane three days in a row. The times work out for them to swap it in FRA, so I suspect they will at some point to get her back in YYZ but until then YYC-FRA and back is almost perfect for utilization with 2 hrs turn at FRA and 3.5 hrs at this end. Must be a rut AC likes sticking planes into, we've had the same A333 from FRA here as many as 10 days in a row

Heading over to Stephan's since its a short walk from the hotel for dinner and a few beers...

Anybody suggest a place for me and 6 Mexican's?

Got a tour of the new expansion today and I must say its big, and I see the old tower is slowly coming down bit by bit.

I have several pictures of the aircraft we flew onboard (XA-BAL) which is not a G-V but a new G650. We however arrived much later than anticipated into YYC on Tuesday evening due to a late departure courtesy of late catering and a late First officer.

Welcome! Probably too late now, but I would suggest the Calgary Tower for visitors who have never been here before.

Interesting comment. I flew back from Dallas last night on AA. Was a brand new 737, had to be less than a month old. The new entertainment system was great. Essentially an iPad type product with movies, an ereader, and best of all, a flight tracker that was essentially a google earth with flight location and altitude. It shifted my perception of AA a bit- I had come to think of them as the "Greyhound of the sky" over the last few years.

I had a very good experience coming back on AA from LGA via DFW last month. Professional Staff and Clean Planes, also the layover in Terminal D at DFW never gets boring.

Google Earth (the app) has been updated with satellite imagery of YYC from July 2014. IFP and 17L/35R look awesome!

This really shows the sheer enormity of what's going on. Moving YYC into bigger leagues!

Looking forward to seeing it up close and personal in 2015.

The April 2002 throwback pics remind me of the familiar post winter brownscape ;-)
