Except for Trump, all the new buildings visible (5 between 400'-550') are in the google-earth-fused part of the image

I always viewed TD Centre as Toronto's finest office building, but gave Scotia Plaza and Royal Bank Plaza a long hard look when others said they liked those 2 better.

They both have a strong presence, have the highest quality materials I've yet seen on an office building, and are unique in the world. I initially found the gold on RBP gaudy, but it's stunning in person. Scotia Plaza has an odd colour, but its a rich warm hue that's very pleasing... especially compared to the sterility of all glass towers that seem to be going up left right and centre.

Scotia Plaza has fabulous proportions. It's slender from the north/south, but looks quite different from other angles. A spectacular lobby just pushes it to a 10/10 in my book. Scotia Plaza? They just don't build them like that any more. And that's a shame.

I love Foster's buildings, but when I visited Calgary the Bow left me a tad disappointed. I'm not sure why. It's very good, but missing something.

Loved Scotia Plaza until I spent some time in it. The floor space is just horrible with it's slim, long profile. I could severely injure those involoved in the renovations to Royal Bank Plaza. Filling in the publicly accessible atrium with a trading floor and larger bank branch was downright criminal. The office space is light and airy and the views are spectacular with angles no other tower offers.

The public areas of the Bow are disappointing. The entrance lobby is commonplace and the street interface is atrocious. A raised wind swept plaza greets passerbys. A couple very nice art pieces does little to mitigate that. 1970s site planning. The office space is spectacular and the tower is very pleasing. I could do without the spine.

Scotia Plaza is my #1 fav office tower in the country. It's huge, the width and height command attention. The colour is unique (not typical blue/clear glass). The lobby is very impressive and the overall attention to detail is something not seen that often in office towers now. Overall, it's just a great tower, people are right when they say towers simply aren't made like this anymore.

I remember doing a courier job many eons ago and had to visit one of the top floors of that place. What a weird layout.

Wow, that last Montreal shot is really impressive. From that angle it almost looks like a miniture Calgary!

There is a huge park behind Le 1000 that is just few blocks away from the empty lot you're talking about.

That lot is owned by Cadillac Fairview and is in their long-term development plan.

On the left hand side, you can see a bit of what they plan on putting there.
