I don't think they have enough pictures of the young couple sitting in the food court and on one of the benches having their coffee.
Don't ya know, the Southland Mall food court is where ALL the young people go for coffee and a booster juice. It's the hippest place south of Regina Ave.

The Marriott on Parliament is still stalled and I suspect it is not re-starting anytime soon. There were two stories in the news about why, one said the construction company got in over it's head and took off back to Ontario, the other said the construction company shut things down because the party building it was way behind on payments. So obviously there is a dispute between the party building it and the construction company. The later has also apparently put a lien on the property until it gets paid. Sounds like a real mess, and the wood will continue to deteriorate the longer it is exposed to the elements.

So that's a condo developement with modular suites? I live in the Altern complex on Lewvan/Parliament, and if it's anything like that they will build not nearly enough parking.
Altern actually removed ALL visitor parking and also all the handicap stalls in order to sell those spots to tenants for a premium. I'm fairly certain the latter move might be illegal. So of course everyone starts parking on the streets surrounding the complex...until the city puts up no parking signs. There are people having to park 2 blocks away at night, it's ridiculous. I wish the city would have better bylaws relating to parking requirements for new constructions.

Yes it's modular. The City requires 1.5 parking stalls per unit, but of course with high rents these days there are 2 or more adults in most units.
1. The new Judges' Platform on Pine Island looks terrific. Blends in nicely with the natural surroundings.
2. The black lamp posts, light standards, and sign posts in front of the Legislature and in Queen Elizabeth Gardens are very classy, and they match the fixtures of Speakers' Corner across the Lake. What seems new to me is that the black light standards have been erected all along the south shore of Wascana Lake (along Lakeshore Drive), right up to Wascana Parkway. They add an attractive feature to one of Regina's most scenic roads. I wonder if this will continue along the north shore of the Lake (Wascana Drive)?
Nice post! Those are all nice additions to the city. The judge's platform is refreshingly modern. I would like to see the light fixtures in person, as Saskatoon's downtown fixtures (the black historic re-pro ones) have bases that are 2 parts, and they always seem to be coming apart in a way that really annoys me. They appear quite cheap when this happens. I especially like the dual/spherical lamp posts as they are the perfect mix between the faux-historic and the mid-century lamps that are seen near the Centre of the Arts (bank name?).

Great pic update, thanks!! The only negative from what iv heard about the finish line tower from an experienced rower of course is that there is no bathroom in there. This is due to the fact that there is no running water or sewer pipes going to the island. They were seeking additional funding for a incinerator toilet ( approx: $10,000) but that did not happen. Other then that the rowers love it and it putts Regina in line for more high end competitions now.
I just love Wascana park. I still think its a hidden gem in this city that a lot of people don't appreciate. Can find some pretty secluded/ Scenic spots

Quite true. I don't think a lot of people from outside (and I'm sure some inside) the city realize how extensive it actually is.

For sure. Last year, I had a question about clearing of the multi-use path between Assiniboine and Prince of Wales. That's when I learned that Wascana Centre Authority takes care of that path up to Fleet Street.
Queen City Marathon really takes advantage of the park, winding parts of its route through the park. It's such a great place to run!
On CTV they mentioned that the dome of the Leg will be wrapped for a year and when they unwrap it will have a brand new shiny copper dome. They said it will eventually weather back to black. Does anyone know why it won't weather to green?
