Anyway my top 5 skylines in Canada are as follows.

1. Toronto - Just massive! screams big city
2. Calgary - Very modern with some great buildings, plus what Boris said lol.
3. Vancouver - great density, needs more signature towers though.
4. Montreal - Great density, just find the tallest towers are fairly spread out. Could also use some more buildings from this decade to compliment the ones from past decades.
5. Edmonton - Decent density, but similar to Montreal, not enough new towers (this will obviously change very soon).

Here are some amazing Toronto shots by Jack Landau (one of my fav skyline photographers in the city) . I fell in love with one of his photos so much I paid to have it blown up into a 5ft canvas which now sits overtop my bed. (the last photo, orange moon rising, is the one I blew up)

I like Montreal's skyline, my only issue is it hasn't seen enough change over the last 25 years. Same comment applies to Edmonton. I like skylines that are never complete.
Anyway, this will not be an issue in Montreal or Edmonton over the next few years.
And come on Winnipeg - build a new tallest already!

All of Canada's major cities have nice skylines, really. Heck even stubby Ottawa looks nice from some angles. And in any case, Ottawa makes up for its lack of height and pretty buildings with very intense canyons.

1. Toronto

Huge in every way. CBD has some of the finest complexes of towers in Canada but nothing of note built in the last 30 years.

2. Vancouver

thin point towers stacked close together plus the topography gives an impression of a Manhattan scaled skyline. Design is part of civic duty and it shows

3. Calgary

densely packed, huge commercial towers dominating surrounding residential point towers and mid rises. Massive from some angles; rather small from others. The Bow tower impresses greatly and several others are quite pleasing but, lacking compared to others with older more established skylines.

4. Montreal

large with good character with some top notch towers. Needs more height. The current crop of 400+ footers under construction could propel it to 3rd.

As far as skylines go, Montreal is obviously #2, Vancouver #3, and Calgary #4, for the time being.

Those recent pics of Vancouver is exactly why I ranked it as Canada's defacto number one skyline..Yes, I'm basing it on setting as well..Guilty..Stick Vancouver's skyline on Lake Ontario, and something tells me it would still be awesome, but it would slip to number three behind Toronto and Montreal..That's how much emphasis I personally rank skylines on the whole package..Settings, how eclectic they are, etc. ..I mean Phoenix has some great density and tall buildings, but it's instantly forgettable. A city like Montreal's strength is it's mix like others pointed out..I can only imagine if a city like Montreal was situated on a Great Lake..It's true girth would show..

Yes this is Ottawa's strength for sure..It's all about how you cut up the office space in a city I suppose..10- 50 story buildings or 25 - 20 story buildings

Um Scotia Plaza... Early 90s? IMO the nicest office tower in the country. My bad it was 88... 26 years ago. Wow time flies.

^ Yes Scotia Plaza is one of my favourites as well. In fact, it is one of the few buildings from the early 90s that was completed in 1988.
