Those rankings are really old too. I bet if you took an SSC poll today it would look quite different. It's not very scientific either. A good majority of people that vote tend not to have knowledge beyond a few skylines. They just pick ones they know or seen in photos a few times. Sydney in 4th is testament to that.

These rankings should actually be "weighted skylines", i.e. how well a skyline ranks in absolute way (with a score assigned to it somehow, in a fair and reasonable way), then weighted by population of the city/metro (dividing that absolute "skyline score" by metro pop).

I mean, right now, Calgary and Montreal are almost tied...

Yep, it's nearly guaranteed there's a bias favoring English-speaking cities. (Sydney, among others.)

Just as if you'd do a "global" skyline voting test on a German-language skyscraper forum, even if you insisted that people should take into account all cities and vote "globally", I'm sure Frankfurt and Berlin would have an advantage, just because way more forum users will be already familiar with their skylines.

SSC is not a unilingual English forum, however. Most users are from non-Anglo countries and there are boards in several different languages.
