It's actually a beautiful little modern building-- A shame to loose it for a mediocre (at best) high rise--

I'm also in agreement on this building. I like it other than how it ignores W. Peachtree.

Still it is nice to see even more residential proposed for Midtown. I hope that at least half of these eventually come to fruition.

Thanks to devmap.io, I'm counting up 3,186 new units either under construction or proposed, all between 10th street and 5th street.

Anyone know what the current residental unit count is in midtown? What % increase does 3k represent?

Maybe we will need another publix... geez.

*edit* midtown alliance says 11,251 units in the midtown core. So that represents a 28% increase.

Developer: Midtown 'Yoo' & Peachtree Project Alive, Well

Contrary to the rumors that at least one tipster is hearing, "Yoo On The Park" is alive and well. An anonymous emailer reached out recently to claim the project by Trillist (formerly Tivoli Properties) was way in debt and had been cancelled, meaning the tower on 13th Street near Piedmont Park would be a no-go. Not so, Trillist President and CEO Scott Leventhal said Thursday. "I am unsure why there would be speculation that it has failed," Leventhal said. "In fact we are presently in for final permitting and working on closing financing." The development business is not a straightforward one sometimes, but, at this point, the 13th Street tower — billed as an "exciting residential project" with touches "that are immediately and singularly recognizable" as those of international designer Yoo — lives on.

Damn, Buckhead is really shaping up to be something incredibly special and probably the most transformative mixed-use development in the area. Several months ago, I believed Ponce City Market would be the bigger catalyst for future development, but my opinion is shifting in favor of Buckhead. Kudos to OliverMcMillan for his efforts in revitalizing this project and his investments in the city. It's gonna be an exciting year for Atlanta next year.

The project's retail portfolio won't be entirely ultra high end. From the Atlanta magazine article:

Quote:
Jeff Zeigler, head of retail leasing for Oliver McMillan, says the goal for the tenants is one-third luxury, one-third contemporary, and one-third beverage and dining—and now, the mix is looking good. (See below for the full list of tenants and expected openings.)

I have almost lost interest in PCB, just seems to be moving at a snails pace, maybe I'm wrong?

Actually, i think that's smart for that area, esp with all the tourist attractions in that area, they would do well, to put some nice eateries with patios and retail shops in that area, esp on the street in the middle. i would have liked taller too, but it is what it is. i like the way it ties in with the museum tower.

PCM? Just think of 45,000 panes of glass that had to be replaced in the historic metal muntins, tearing down all the stuff on the northwest side, building the plaza in the middle, massive bridge to the Beltline, auto ramps on the east side......

Replacing or fresh-installing climate control, electric, plumbing and lighting for 2 million square feet of a mostly 80 year old building.

I've had the luck of getting to tour it 4 times since Jamestown bought and I've been blown away each time with the progress.

The first office tenants took possession on Sep 1st and should be moving in early 2015. I think the apartments are way too expensive, but we'll see how that goes. Got to walk through a two-bedroom unit on the 6th floor a few weeks ago and it's nice, but wow, that's pricey.

They are going to be very similar, and I can't wait. PCM will have a couple of unique features that Chelsea doesn't have, like the entire roof complex that is still pretty much unveiled.

I think both PCM and Buckhead Atlanta will be catalysts for their respective areas (duh!), and I predict huge success for both.

They are in two totally different parts of the City, and are going after two completely different markets. There is definitely room for both to be successful.
