True, but I was thinking more along the lines of 40-45 floors being the magical line that we see rarely broken in this town. This tower has also such a tiny footprint, that it has started to feel really tall and massive only recently.

Anyone keeping track of how many floors to go? Is it around 15 or so?

I have lost count, but I think they have around 45 floors up. Looking at the building right now, it seems to be about 3/5 of the height of Shangri-La (very rough estimate).

I am also unclear how many real floors this will be. I see 63 and 67 being thrown around.

So far there seems to be 39 or 40 floors in place so we're looking at another 24 or 23 floors.

Klazu, your post in response to Locked In's query somehow went just a fraction of a second ahead of mine. If it's 45 floors as you suggest, are they adding floors at a rate faster than 1 per week???

I was looking at my old photos and I remember counting 18 floors in beginning of February. So in 7 months they have only added some 22-25 floors, which would make less than one per week.

Great pictures for sure. And love that canyon effect.
I wonder about West Georgia in 10 years. Development is sure to increase in height and density heading west.
As KLAZU pointed out in "the way we weren't" thread, he had a favourite unbuilt building,
about 40 storeys, sleek elegant, with an uderneath archway passage,
at its best from being made of the right stone.
Could this be an "entrance way to CBD Georgia" building, marking the slope, heading up towards Trump and Shagri-La?

i'm actually a little confused about that. the title in this thread says 67 floors but on Trump's website, it says 616ft (57s).
I know they added some floors but 10 of them? real ones or fake ones? lol
i hate this stupid missing number floors thing.

This is something that has been bugging me as well, I brought this up awhile back (in this thread).http://trumpvancouver.com/building.html here it says 57 floors. http://holborn.ca/trump-international-hotel-tower-vancouver/ here it says 63 floors. Then according to the title of this thread it is 67 floors. I think another source I read somewhere even said 71 floors. I feel there should be a meeting and everyone should figure out the real/pretend/phantom floor numbering scheme and get on the same page.

Or perhaps they should just number physical floors starting at the bottom and continuing numerically upward. I know this is a radical idea though and will never be implemented.

Here's the staff report from when the additional floors were inserted and the height went to 616 ft.

http://www.docstoc.com/docs/36776623/CD-1-Text-Amendment---1133-West-Georgia-Street-2009-11-03

Believe it or not, the number of floors went from 57 to 67 (they also reduced the suite sizes to cram more in)

http://www.docstoc.com/docs/36776623/CD-1-Text-Amendment---1133-West-Georgia-Street-2009-11-03

and here's the final CD-1 bylaw #446 (which confirms the height at 187.76m (i.e. 616 ft) but does not state the number of storeys)

http://former.vancouver.ca/commsvcs/bylaws/cd-1/ByCD-1Number/cd1s/iCD-1(446).pdf

FYI, here's the City website with all of the CD-1 bylaws:

http://former.vancouver.ca/commsvcs/bylaws/cd-1/cd-1a.htm

Thanks for the info. I would presume though that the 67 floors must include the pretend/non existing floors? I guess imo the best way to figure out the actual number of floors is count them in the render, which comes out to 63 I think.

Nope - the City's count for regulatory purposes would be the actual number of storeys
(i.e. there's no City policy as to how you exclude floors in numbering them, so you can't base an administrative report on unpredictable methodology)

EDIT - yes, the number of storeys shown on the elevation plan attached to the end of that bylaw amendment yields 63 storeys - which is weird. The background section also refers to Shangri-La as 57 storeys.

FYI - here's the CD-1 bylaw for Shangri-La - maximum height of uppermost habitable floor is 191.7m, and to top of mechanical is 196.9m (although the fins look taller than 5.2 m)

http://former.vancouver.ca/commsvcs/bylaws/cd-1/ByCD-1Number/cd1s/iCD-1(426).pdf

So overall, Trump will be 9.14 m (29.7 ft) shorter than Shangri-La.

Also, the top of Trump's mechanical will be at 187.67 m, while the top slab of Shangri-La is at 191.7 m
- so Trump's highest point will be 3.94 m (12.8 ft) shorter than Shangri-La's top of slab (roof, meaning base of the fins).
- see my pic above (or one of Klazu's pics) to guesstimate what it'll look like.

Thanks for the all info OD.
so there should be a minimum of 22 actual floors to go assuming it's 63s per the revised plans.

There are 21 more floors, plus the mechanical penthouse, to go.
