I mistakenly thought this was the V Condo design for Montreal. MtlMartin is correct it os called l'avenue. Mirvish flipped the property to Gupta and the Remington / Easton Group, and the design team took the blueprints to Montreal as a project there.
The design changed a bit since, but I can see where it all started. I like the current design better, it's less pointy...

Back to skylines!

Downtown as seen from the Southwest, with Deloitte starting to stick out:

Flew in to Billy Bishop today. Toronto looked very impressive. So much going up. Aura had real presence from the air.

I agree. But It won't happen. Too much historical buildings around. Very few empty lots to built and those who can be, are generaly being replaced by 10fl. buildings ( a pure waste at my opinion )
But except the lack of height, their quality is generally excellent ! Such as the recently finished Europa : http://www.quebecurbain.qc.ca/2014/05/18/projet-europa-projet-quasi-termine/
And oh, don't forget an ARMY of Nimbys at every corners !!

There is actually alot more potential in St-Roch, hence being lower compared to upper-town, a 20fl tower wont have any impact on our skyline.

Rather than having a growing CBD, we have Ste-foy, but it doesn't have the same quality...

Québec city has ALOT to offer in many ways, but I know I can forget about it for new skyscrapers.

Instead of that, we will get a double skyline. It's the only thing that makes me happy. It gives a long skyline feel in some angles.

Anyway, to tell the truth, even if I'm a skyscrapers lover, I already knew, when moving here from Montréal that it wasn't to live in a city full of skyscrapers !
The historical side of a city take an important place in my heart.

Yes indeed. And if you take care, you can notice on the upper right the Appalachian mountains on the South shore aswell as the very end of the St-Lawrence valley on the upper left where the Laurentians meet the St-Lawrence and close the valley.

I tought our weather was humid because it is continental. See, in general, our weather come from the west, not the east.

Québec derivated from the Algonquian word Kébec which means "place where the river narrows".

Oddly enough I love Edmonton's skyline, but that may be because I lived there for 3 years and followed its development throughout. I actually prefer skylines that are balanced with the nuances of history and variety; throw in church spires and domes from the 18th century, late 19th century skyscrapers and classic 1920's art deco buildings. I like this because I have been hard-wired since childhood to admire such things, probably because I myself was born and raised in a city that has a skyline full of history. As a child was in absolute awe of the skylines of Chicago and New York, not those of Los Angeles or Phoenix. Does this make Calgary's skyline shit? Of course not. It's all personal taste. Arguing about it is petty. SSP, Sky scraper pettiness?
This, in spades. I must be the mother of Montreal, because I just love its face.

There aren't many 18th century church spires in Edmonton, and there are just as many historic buildings in Calgary, (Palliser Hotel, Barron Building, Calgary Tower, "Red Square", etc. etc.). What you're really saying here is that you like to reminisce about the history of a place, which is fine, but that's not really about the skyline. It's about history, and in particular your knowledge of the history.
