This place just opened in the centre mall. I am not exactly sure where, but I have heard the ad about a dozen times already.

Also, I am not sure if it has been said on here yet, but I there will be a Mr. Mike's Steakhouse coming to the city and I think it will be located at the old Rogers Video at the Grovesnor Park Shopping Plaza.

Checking Sask Jobs.ca and saw that there is a management position for Victoria's Secret in Midtown Plaza. Looks like we're finally getting one, so yay... if that's your kind of thing. I'm still waiting on Smoke's Poutinerie myself.

They don't really have anywhere else to put seats. They expanded for the World Juniors a few years ago and I'd be surprised if they have more than a handful of events each year that actually require the expanded space.

There are a few sections in both the upper & lower parts of the arena that could have seats added. For example the wedge of section empty of seats for pulling the upper level curtain in/out of the arena area.

I believe the Twisted Kilt is open in the former Double Deuce space.

I wondered what was going on at the old Rogers Video, with all the fencing. Now I know.

Another 8th St tidbit - I can't remember if it was mentioned or not, but the city's most garish Great Canadian Oil Change is finally open after years of construction. Inside there's an old police car on a giant turntable. Also, their landscaping rivals Butchart Gardens. I'd love to know what was up with their bizarre "Rockadero" stunt while it was still under construction...

That Great Canadian Oil Change has to be the worst thing I have ever seen. It is honestly embarrassing to drive by. It looks like it was designed by someone on an acid trip.

I find it odd that everyone complains about lack of building styling and someone does a modern art deco take on what would otherwise have been a square box automotive building and it's looked down upon. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but better than a box.

As for the twisted kilt hope they get sued and we actually get a tilted kilt here instead. Lydias old building would be a perfect fit with some tlc

^ I tend to agree. 8th St. for the most part is a piece of s*it. The new oil change house, gaudy as it may be, is the only thing remotely interesting.

MTS Centre hasn't added any seats. They did redo the upper concourse over the summer, and have talked about adding a few hundred seats, but haven't done it yet.

As mentioned in the thread and by the arena's GM, if anything SaskTel Centre would expand not the seating but the concourse. Anybody who had tried to move around in the building where it is close to capacity (World Juniors being the biggest example) can attest to the concourse being way too narrow. The area between the two main entrances has always been this way, and having the suites on the concourse has just made it worse.

The Great Canadian Oil Change looks great. It adds a little art to a Street that never changes much. Example is the Dairy Queen next store which hasn't changed since the early sixties exempt for the prices. Change is good. Everyone likes something different.

Yes, I noticed that crane was up. There might be a good shot of it from the U of S side of the river. I definitely have some more pics to snap before the leaves fully turn..

There will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth when that classic DQ is finally torn down. I thought we were supposed to celebrate and treasure our cultural landmarks like that building. At least that's what is said for the buildings on Broadway & downtown.

Agreed. There is much, much worse on 8th Street.

I saw Rod Pederson mention on his blog a few weeks ago that he's been hearing rumours of a Hooters coming to Stoon. I'll be pretty happy with a Hooters and a Victoria Secret in town, heh.

So there is a bit of a opinion divide on the Great Canadian Oil Change building. That is to be expected. What really has my curiosity is the story behind how it all came to be. I'm sure we'd all like to be filled in on that.
