That being said, it's truly refreshing to spend a summer away from your environment (pikes peak in Iowa on the Mississippi is beautiful, so is just spending a summer in a farm house in the middle of nowhere) and exploring other regions (I'd go for Great Lakes and Pacific Northwest - a much different experience than SLC) and getting to know SLC better at the same time - experiencing every part of America is very fprefreshing.

That's what's amazing about America - you can go anywhere in the country and experience the life of someone completely different than you, and it's what makes the American road trip so unique - no other country can replicate what it means to have a road trip like us or experience everything possible with ultimate freedom.

Well said Jubguy...

What's up with the "database" and "skyscraper poster" logos pasted 50 times across every post now? It's really jacked up looking on mobile divides... And extremely annoying..

Speaking of witch... This forum needs a mobile version

On my iPad it jumps up and down so I end up clicking on the wrong thread. It's also hard to read a non-mobile format.

On my phone it's virtually useless. I can't even begin to describe how choppy and small everything is.

Would it be time for the company to move away from the current program to a more modern program? I feel like I take a trip back in time looking at the website.

Cirrus (or any other mod that reads this), do you know if there are plans to change away from the current forum program? Thx

Don't worry, in 30 years it will be totally dated and we'll redo it.

No. Didn't you notice the expansion of Capitol Hill? They built a new mountain out of damning documents of the last two attorney generals.

No doubt! What a bunch of crooks. Absolute crooks. Too bad Swallows political career is over. I realize that they're on opposite sides of the spectrum, but I always wanted a Eliot Spitzer/John Swallow sign for my front yard.

Development related: the 300 West beautification started a week or two ago. They have begun work on the bulb-outs first, medians and plants later.

Also noteworthy, the Marmalade library excavation works looks nearly done. Time to pour some foundation soon.

I've noticed the last couple days that there is work being done at the old Bayleaf space on main street. The Bayleaf sign outside has been taken down and there is work going on inside too. Hopefully a cool new restaurant or bar will be opening up. Has anybody heard anything?

I have tried to do some digging to find out what's happening at the former Bayleaf on Main Street, but whatever they're doing, they don't have a building permit on record.

I walked by the apartment site on the SE corner of Denver Street and 400 South. I think it's called Seasons at Denver or something like that. They have demolition equipment there and they're working on interior demo. They should have their building permit secured very shortly.

9th East Lofts (aka Eco Lofts) is currently out to bid to GC's. So there's that.

Awesome, 400 South is becoming quite the TOD corridor.

The Hardage apartment building where Pizza Hut is on 4th south should start construction soon. I think I remember seeing it on a recent planning commission meeting agenda.

The North 6 Apartments on 600 West between North and South Temple have put out a call for artists for their mural on the north side of the building. As has been pointed out numerous times, there probably will not be a Mary mural there.

From their facebook page:

CALLING ALL URBAN MURALISTS!!!
HELP GIVE LIFE TO DOWNTOWN’S WESTERN GATEWAY
$10,000 DESIGN COMPETITION

North Temple’s unique shift from freeway underpass to transit overpass at 600 West has come to serve as one of the most important physical and psychological entry points into Downtown Salt Lake City. It deserves to be something special. Giv Group is seeking experienced muralists to help add meaningful beauty to the Depot District and this emerging city gateway.

Design proposals will be accepted through September 12th, 2014 for a three-story, elevated mural space at North Temple and 600 West. The mural will define the first phase of Giv’s North Station project and serve as a landmark waypoint for the city. Interested parties should contact [email protected] for more information on the project.

Please artists, nothing that has a Mormon History, Winter, Bee Hive or Red Rock themes or any words that have a "ZZ" at the end. We have enough of those. Let's think outside the box here with something truly one of a kind.

Capital Theater extension:

I have to say I like it. but, I'm not really sure (a side of the 45 degree grid both buildings have on their facades) that they really feel connected. I like it.

Thank you DCRes for posting that pic. It looks like they are going to leave the top part of the building the way it is. I guess you win some and lose some.

400s. is going to be Awesome. I like it. the potential for it is great.

I cannot agree more with SLC Projects
