i hope that is not the case.

i know i've said this before, but it needs to be said again: the fact that the bars close at 2 AM and MARTA shuts down at 1 AM is both a recipe for drunk driving and a huge loss for transit in this city.

the fact of the matter is that there is a market for transit in atlanta after 1 AM, and expanding transit service to 24 hours needs to be a major priority for keith parker.

I agree! Unfortunately as noted before, it is very common for mass transit to shut down by midnight. Even in Tokyo the Metro and JR lines are over at 12/1 until 5AM.

Just to clarify, bars are closed at 3AM and Marta's very last train on the weekend is usually 12:30/45.

The Residences Buckhead Atlanta to open on schedule Sept. 2 with first tenants.

The first residents of The Residences Buckhead Atlanta will move in Sept. 2. The two towers will total 370 luxury apartments when completed. The apartment towers will offer upscale finishes and hotel-like amenities—such as 24-hour concierge, the Clubhouse Mansion with a kitchen, fitness center and theater, and pool and spa and outdoor kitchen and living room.Buckhead Atlanta’s apartment towers are reportedly leasing at the highest rates in the city, close to $2.50 a foot

I've said this before, but it's worth repeating: Atlanta's affordability is a HUGE asset for the city.

I live in Manhattan in a decent (not awesome) neighborhood, in a pre-war building. No fancy amenities, no views of anything. And it's north of $4/SF. The idea that you could pay half the square foot cost and get views, amenities, modern appliances, a parking spot, etc is just incredible.

That's good to know. I've never experienced that. Until they start going till 3/3:30 I'm gonna keep using Uber to get home from the club/bar.

It will actually be operated by the city. They are bringing in MARTA for the first year on a consulting basis. After that it's all Atlanta

At a June NPU meeting they said hours would be:
Mon-Thu 6am-11pm
Fri 6am-1am
Sat 8:30am-1am
Sun 9am-11pm

300 unit Buckhead high rise apartment project planned

Several publications are reporting that Houston luxury apartment developer Hanover Co is under contract with The Loudermilk Cos for the parking lot beside Buckhead Theatre for a 300-unit, high-rise apartment tower on the site that would include ground-level retail.

Hanover could take the proposal before the Buckhead Development Review Committee in coming weeks for recommendations.

Any chance someone can start a new thread?

This one stretches for over 560 pages... they usually cap it at 500.

I think with all the new projects in the pipeline, someone could start a new thread and keep a running list of everything (like we used to in the good old days).

I think a moderator asked if we wanted one a while back, but someone replied No. I don't know about you, but I would like a new thread, since it's clear we are on the cusp of a building cycle that promises to deliver a lot of exciting projects to the Atlanta (metro & intown) area.

If I'm the only one who feels this way, then please carry on!

So at 87 Walton they've been doing interior demolition for a while, but more permits are being files with the city so hopefully they're getting past that point to actual construction soon.

Speaking of AMLI, I came across this updated rendering of AMLI Arts Center. Looks pretty nice compared to other apartment buildings going up.

Is that perspective showing the new 15th street extension as well?
