I have never heard of Crunch Gym. That is interesting. I think we can all agree that the Gateway desperately needs to re-invent itself.

Things that the Gateway has going for it:
1. ESA next door.
2. 3 hotels in close proximity
3. Movie Theater
4. Planetarium
5. Children's Museum
6. The Olympic fountain-Its a big draw in the summer time
7. Exponential residential development a few blocks away

I have stated before that I really like the Greenery they have added. I actually wish there was more of it. A lot more. To me the Gateway doesn't just feel like another mall, or an open air mall. The Gateway feels like it is a Great area for locals to enjoy a more earthy, relax shopping/entertainment environment that hasn't been completed yet. And I agree...something has to be done with that big wall that faces Rio Grande st. Add screens or art on that wall. The Gateway and CCC are two completely different creatures. If I want to dress up you know ill be at city creek, but when I have the girls with me, we are usually at the Gateway. That is me. I can't speak for anyone else

Here are some Ideas for the Mall and the wall.

There was a Crunch gym across the street from me when I lived in NYC, so I worked out there. They're very nice.

Good news on the live stock buildings at the fair park. They are putting plywood over the sheet metal roofing... Looks like they will be made to look authentic.

Good to hear AjiuO. I'm glad they're making the buildings stronger, but good to know we won't be losing the rustic historic charm

Oh but it was...

I got a picture but for some reason it won't show up. Anyway, when I drove by on the 23rd, they had taken down the well in wells and placed it in a giant window-washer platform. So yes, when I saw it, the sign was (partly) gone. But, I don't know if they took down the whole sign or not.

Also I noticed they replaced the Wells Fargo signage on the base if the tower (corner of Main & Broadway) with illuminating Red and Gold "Wells Fargo" letters as opposed to the plain gold signage that was there before.

I'd post a picture from my camera but I have no idea how to.. Can someone explain how to upload to the page in the easiest way possible? I'd love to be able to share my photos on this site!

EP, I am kind of shocked that you would have to travel to Sugar House or W. Valley for a gym, other than say City Creek. Even if they didn't put a gym right at Gateway, there should at least be one right along N. Temple and the TRAX line. To me, it makes as much sense to have a gym over in that area as it made sense to open a lego store along the metro or a Trader Joes.

I agree that the more flora and fauna at Gateway the better. Also, as we have encouraged many times before, they need to rethink many of the facades. A more rustic authentic 19th Century appeal would be very helpful. The Gateway could use a more organic Italianate feel. Not something faux or Disneyesque, but a real authentic village center for the locals. There are a number of village centers here in L.A., which not only serve their respective neighborhoods, but have also become very popular destinations for city wide visitors and tourist alike. Gateway could easily transition from mallesque to an even more charming village feel.

Transit Station Development

Project Description:
The Lofts at Gateway

Need to contact applicant for electronic version of plans. This is a proposal for a 432 residential unit and some commercial space development

411 W 300 N
Salt Lake City UT 84103-1117

Owner:
SLHNET INVESTMENTS LC
48 W MARKET ST #250
SALT LAKE CITY UT 84101-2138

I googled the address of 48 W Market St. #250.... it took me to the Market Street Grill.... So this project is most likely owned by the Gastronomy Inc. I wonder if the residential unit count is correct?

on another side note.... i did some digging and found this from a CDA study for the North Temple viaduct back in 2009.....

"The Project Area’s tax increment projections are crafted conservatively to reflect the increased
values from modest annual appreciation in the area and only two specific development projects
under consideration. Based on discussions with SLHNET, a major property owner and developer
in the area, the projections assume SLHNET’s completion in 2014 of a $65 million office
building and completion in 2016 of a $35 million residential development."

Wow! A $65 million office building at that location?! That's got to be 10-15 stories! And, a $35 million apartment building! Also quite significant. Nice find Viperlord!

I was thinking the same thing! imagine how nice that building would look driving down from I-15. It would stretch our down town, instead of the Wall it currently is turning out to be...WHICH I LIKE!!!!! But It would change things up and I'm okay with that. That is also why I'm not a fan of the idea the CCH being built on 100 s West temple. Lets spread it out a bit.

Viperlord, our greatest Digger and King.
Wow, that's huge, especially for that barren lot and area.
Something with that many units would have to be demolishing the non-descript midget hangar-looking buildings just to the west.
Is this a recent application?

While I am not Viperlord, I am able to say that after some quick research this was submitted on 7/23/2014, so 2 days ago.

Hopefully we will find out more about this project in the coming weeks.

I was able to find it from the following link:

https://aca.slcgov.com/Citizen/Cap/CapHome.aspx?module=Planning&TabName=PLANNING I just put in the Jan 1, 2014 and today's date.

There are also a coupling of interesting project descriptions that I noticed:

Applicant:

Rae Ross
PZR Corp.
100 NE 5th St.
Oklahoma City, OK, 73104

Project Description:
1990 West North Temple
Zoning Verification for TSA zone

With the above, I would think this is maybe for a possible project in the near future?

This is where the Motel 6 is at the intersection of North Temple and 215.

Agree, the words 'The Lofts' and that large number of units sounds like Downtown and Gateway could be getting something with some decent vertical, while also covering a large area. Would be outstanding to fill in that dumpy lot.

Too many made up buildings. I only see the temple and the Eaglegate tower that belong.
