My experience with the Gold's in Utah has been good, but maybe it depends from gym to gym. Here in L.A. I've always gravitated toward 24hr because it was closest and served my needs well. I do think that Downtown Salt Lake is past due for some sort of franchise gym like a 24hr. On the surface, with all of the progress around Gateway, it seems to me that Gateway would be the perfect location for it.

Yeah, I think there are good ones and bad ones. Gold's also lets you do a month to month if contracts are too scary. I know so many people at my Bountiful Golds who come here because Rose Park and downtown don't have an affordable heavy weight gym.

Also, just out of curiosity, does your SSP name have anything to do with your deltoid muscle development?

Yeah, that was of one of the gym names my buddies gave me in the past.

I had to laugh at your hilarious post over on the Microbrew Thread. I hadn't figured out yet why I kept getting so much attention over in Silverlake and a few other places where muscle cubs are appreciated. Ha, I didn't even know there was such a label as muscle cub.

Hah! My assumption I made my first day here that you must have boulders for shoulders was right!

I, for one, feel like my life has a lot more direction knowing my gay clique body type.

Does the CCC gym open it's doors to the general public? I know it isn't a franchise gym, but I would think it would be a high class gym for the downtown area.

Of course, I've never seen it in person, so I probably have no idea what the hell I'm talking about.

It's more limited in hours and really expensive. It's a very high end gym.

Yes, anyone can join The Gym at CC. It's a little more expensive, but it's a very nice full service gym. It's a great addition to downtown. They give group deals to a lot of the businesses downtown, so mine was actually a lot less than the standard rate.

It's a membership gym. I think anyone can get a membership. The pool is shared with the regent.

There are many ways that they can go but I do hope that they start to think of themselves as something other than just a shopping destination.

I have no interest in going to gateway unless they get rid of the bums and druggies and do a major renovation on the movie theater.. They don't even have iMax. Iv stopped going there and opt to just hop on trax and go to VFM witch has come a long way and makes gateway look like 🞵🞵🞵🞵 now.

I don't pay much more at The Gym at City Creek then I did at 24, and it is much nicer. There hours aren't terrible, and there are certain hours that regent residents can use the pool, otherwise it is just for gym members.

Even with the CC Gym I still think they could use a 24hr. fitness type setup over at Gateway. If it's a well managed franchise, 24-30 dollars a month is a great deal for someone who works out regularly.

My co-worker at City Creek gets an employee discount at THE GYM...$40.00 a month...

That's a pretty good price for that nice of a gym. Do they have all of the requisite equipment for body building geeks? It's not that I'm a muscle head, but I do like to have a good range of Hammer Strength type quality equipment, plenty of dumbbells, and ab machines, etc. A lot of the fancy gyms are more atmosphere, and less focused on a wide range of proven quality equipment.

If it's as nice of a gym as what everyone says it is, $69/month is a hell of a good price.

Yeah, my biggest concern is that it was gonna be like a Planet Fatass type of thing where you can't actually lift heavy weight or grunt or else you get kicked out. And it isn't lame like that at all. In fact, when I go to the public restroom below THE GYM I can hear people deadlifting and slamming the barbell on the ground (a sound that makes my meathead heart beat with joy).

So it's a very good heavy weight gym. I haven't had a chance to really appraise the equipment (I'm also a fan of Hammer Strength), but I've heard it's top notch.

I only pay $40 as well. It has a lot of free weights as well as machines. The selling point for me was it also has a lot of cable machines.

If I'm correct, it looks like DOPO is going into the old Biaggi's space. I really liked Biaggi's and was sad to see it go, but I LOVE the idea of nightly live Jazz at the new place.

I like the idea of a golds at gateway. Especially for Glendale and rose park residents. Its a pain to drive to sugar house or wvc

As far as gyms go, I've always wished they would open a Crunch gym there.
