I wouldn't be suprised if this was actually true

In the very beginning I hated the look of this building. Now when I'm driving East down 1st ave it looks quite impressive.

I like this building. It has an "upbeat" quality to it, and above all, I like the curve in it. I wish more buildings in and around Vancouver used that "curve" element more.

Hey, I've seen buildings in Vancouver with a strong curve element in it.
I expressed my self wrongly. I should have qualified that as I wish more major CBD and West End (and town centres) used that

I must say phase I and II both add interest to any skyline. And with the cemetery across the street to the North and East, and the bc hydro substation to the South West there will not be much to obstruct views for quite some time. The substation will be ugly but only if you look down.

The view front the other side is really nice now, there is a "sail" feature that extends past the roof slab and partially conceals the mech box.

Once that, and the two sides are painted white it will be impressive.

As I mentioned before, this is a extremely unique building with "resort" qualities to it.

Pretty happy to have something like this going up in Brentwood, I think its more impressive than most the generics going up in Downtown these days.

Been kinda quiet here so here's a few pics from my walk to work of the last week or so:

Looks like they chose off-white for the painting of the balconies.

These next few show how the 'swoop' on the top of the back side of the building looks.

This is an interesting one. They are on scaffolding looking like they are preparing the concrete for installation of the white 'tiles'. It looked like they were drilling. Have been at it for several days now. I thought the 'wrap-around' scaffold was pretty cool.

This was reposted yesterday on Ledingham McAllister's twitter from 'Burnaby Dan'. It is the ceremony for the final load of concrete on the top of the building attended by the mayor (is this common?).

Couple from today appearing to show the prep for the white siding. Pretty much proof positive that they are not going to paint the concrete, but attach plates or tiles to it.

From middle of Lions Gate Bridge, just zoomed in. From this angle Brentwood is behind a hill, which is why the towers look like stubs. And thanks!

People will sneer and disagree, but I think that future Brentwood's Aviara, SoLo, and ultimately the new Brentwood Town Centre, all so close together, will create an "urban feel" that - despite the naysayers - will rival Metrotown, largely due to the density.
Right now, Metrotown has big stuff going on, plus Kingsway running through, but still feels like suburbia on steroids.
