All of those places are going to be great additions to downtown but this place in particular looks fantastic from the pictures I`ve seen so far.

The City of Regina is considering a proposal for a new industrial park in the city’s northeast, but nearby residents have raised concerns about the plan.

The Fleet Street Business Park would be located on 325 hectares of land between Fleet Street, Prince of Wales Drive, Highway 46 and the Canadian Pacific mainline.

It would accommodate light and medium industrial development, and could include a rail service district for intermodal, logistics and distribution uses.

This week, the Regina Planning Commission heard residents in the nearby Glencairn area had raised concerns about increased traffic and noise at a public meeting on the proposal.

A city report says a separation distance of at least 120 metres would be imposed between residential areas and the proposed rail service district.

The report notes new industrial development would also be subject to the city’s zoning bylaw, which outlines permitted land uses, hours of operation and setback distances.

The proposed industrial park would be developed in three phases, with the first phase of the project spanning 85 hectares.

Currently, there is little land available for industrial development in Regina. According to Colliers International, the city had an industrial vacancy rate of 1.9 per cent in the first quarter

Initial estimates were probably set a bit on the high side just in case. Had it gone the other way and been over budget projections, there would've been a huge outcry and a ton of negative press.

Just happened to be driving by the North end Superstore yesterday and a large sign has been erected that indicates they are developing the large tract of land east and south of the store. I didn't see all the info on the sign but did notice that it will include a Shoppers Drug Mart.

Loblaw, of course, now owns Shoppers Drug Mart, so I can see that.

Does anyone know yet what's going up immediately to the east of Capital Ford?

Haven't seen the spot/stage of development - could it be the Sobey's Liquor (if ground's broken, likely too early - Regina's Sobey's Liquor isn't expected until Spring 2015)?

Whatever it is is standing, and too big for a liquor store. Looks like part of the Capital complex, and from what I could tell, will be accessible by a road off Rochdale next to Universal Collision

It is part of the Capital complex. I believe it will be there used vehicle facility.

I can definitely confirm, having known the ownership team of Flip for years, that they are opening a pub in this space. Mum's the word, but I can say for sure that it is going to be a simple, beautiful pub with a focus on good beer and a stellar play on pub food.
Can't wait.

Perhaps SDM will also be at SuperStore east as well. The lease at Vic Square must be up in a few years. Loblaw previously barred pharmacies on its extra land.

It's still for lease so I can't help but think they're putting the cart before the horse.

Rumour was Superstore East was holding the land in hopes of eventually getting their own liquor store licence.

I hate to admit this to the world, but I used to work for Loblaws.

Anyhow, both Superstores (and their adjacent Walmarts) opened their doors on the same day during November of 2000. I heard that Loblaw's property lease conditions/rates were absolutely insane. That begs the question: why else has that land been perpetually vacant for 13+ years?

A liquor store wouldn't take much space anyway.

My disclaimer about that aforementioned possibility is: I may be wrong! Lol!!!

REGINA — Regina may soon be home to the largest Habitat for Humanity housing project in Canada if all goes according to plan.

Rob Gartner, Habitat for Humanity Regina’s director of operations, said nothing is final yet, but the prospect of building 62 affordable housing units at the site of the former Haultain School in Regina is extremely exciting.

“It will be one of the biggest Habitat sites in development in Canadian history,” he said. “It’s a really, really big deal. I can’t even put into words how excited I am.”

Anybody know the story on the Shell (Turbo) at the Southland Mall? Is it out of business or just closed for renovations? It was just there one day and all the pumps were gone the next.

I presume it's toast. There's a larger Shell about two blocks away on Albert.
