Explains why they are clearing that much lot. Its great news to hear them essentially doing the whole thing at once.

The city should just send these Chinese a wishlist of projects to take over, mines for DT would be:

L.A. Central
Pershing Square renovation
Park 101
5 more supertalls
The Arcade, Roxie, Cameo on Bway
The Broadway Streetcar
Oh yea, get rid of Skid Row by next year!

It's named 1810. It's across from Pattern Bar at 9th and Main

I don't get why it will take 5 years to complete the second phase of Metropolis if they are going to break ground by late fall. Isn't that a bit long?

Not really when you consider that Wilshire Grand will be finished around 2017 and that's just one building. Metropolis is a huge project.

I'm more excited that it's pretty much going to be built all at once. That never happens in LA.

Here some of the Bloc images. Are these new? I can't remember anymore. Of note, they've got a movie theater in there. Anybody heard anything on that front?

I don't think those Bloc renderings have been posted here before. They certainly look a bit more polished than the ones that I remember. Right now, the general feel of the design reminds me a whole lot of Fig@7th, but on a much larger scale.

I love Jeanne Gangs work with the aqua tower in Chicago, but if she is responsible for this I think its a miss. It's interesting, but somehow disturbing to look at.

Perhaps their optimism and aggressiveness will spur other developers with plans to take action.

Pretty sure the sale for the commercial exchange building has been completed. Real estate signs are down and people going in and out of the building! Can't wait to see what it's gonna be

I love it. Much more real looking than the older renderings. This is such an improvement over what is there now. Do I see cinemas at the top?

also i wonder what color the bricks are gonna be in the end...in earlier renderings they were grayish and a lot lighter. maybe they won´t change them at all or they just haven´t decided yet...

The bloc revisions keep getting worse and worse. I liked the first one with the garden in the middle of the plaza, then the next one I also liked with the metro portal and the landscaped stairs with a fountain. But this last render seems plain and just like fig at 7th but larger
