A new survey suggests office vacancies in Regina’s downtown core could top record levels in 2014, only two years after the city was in possession of the tightest commercial real estate market in North America.
The study by Colliers International predicts the vacancy rate in the city’s central business district to rise to over 12 per cent later this year in response to a “sizable amount” of new commercial buildings.
“The increase of new buildings in the marketplace has created a vacancy uptick,” said Michael Kelsey, associate vice-president and broker with the Regina chapter of the commercial real estate services firm.
