If any of the proposed projects were related to Hills I'd have no doubts. Sure, I would love to see 1855 Rose happen, but unless a major tenant comes out of the woodwork, I think (personally) it's doomed. As are projects at Broad & Vic (proposed) and 1700 block Hamilton street beside Delta. If nothing else, look at all the vacant office space now. Regina's economy doesn't need anymore additional commercial space than what's already being constructed (with existing tenants downtown).

Even though the Hills built Harvards I; II; III, Harvard II (then Victoria Plaza) still took 10 years to complete.

Some of these projects take time to manifest themselves.

heard there is conditional sale on the building were loggies is located. Restaurant and pub will be occupying the loggies space.

I just wanted to state that's Saskatoon downtown is not a picture perfect one as it was painted in that post. My friend told me about the 20th street challenge in downtown stoon...

Per 100,000 people is a rubbish surrogate for measuring overall crime rate.

Does this thread really have to get into the fight about Regina vs. Saskatoon and what is better? Old redundant argument that is not likely to be solved here anyway.

The Gold's Gym east on Quance is ridiculously slow construction. Not sure what is causing all the delays there.

Without an Anchor tenant taking up the vast majority of space, there is zero chance of a 200,000+ sq ft being built. As it is, Ag Place is going to increase downtown vacancy even higher than current.

I was referring to 'per capita' crime data. Yes, [objective] per capita crime is a useful tool; however, statistics are easily manipulated and skewed in order to fulfill political, scientific and/or economic agendas. Lol! Objective per capita data is not as common as we may think as well.

Normally, yes - no shit Sherlock. FCC needed to expand anyway. And, Regina's office vacancy is still relatively low.

How do you get Victoria in the same sentence as Winnipeg, Regina or Saskatoon as far as crime goes? Are you thinking the rates of assault with a cane or walker have gone up? Victoria is below the Canadian average in the stats I have seen.

Also, I'm not sure exactly how one manipulates crime statistics expressed in per capita? The whole purpose of expressing statistics in per capita or per 100,000 is expressly to standardize for size bias. Smaller cities may be prone to greater variability in metrics due to size but when you see a city like Regina or Saskatoon consistently near the top over time - that argument falls apart.

I thought that was strange that they had begun work at the site while it was still before Council.

They had approval and a building permit. They were just applying to amend the approval to allow for more tenants.

The easiest way to manipulate statistics is to state in relative terms. You can get a large percentage change in city with a small metro population versus a large metro.

This makes for sensational headlines and sales of certain conservative Canadian magazines but is misleading.

There is a fence up behind Pier 1/Co-Op right on the corner of Prince of Wales & Vic. Anyone know what's happening?

^ In regards to above (Vic Square), that, combined with the new Gold's will be two awesome new facilities for the people in that area.
