Love what they did/doing with the Riverwalk. Appears they've been adding more trees and plants too. Can't wait until those condos are occupied and the rooftop patio at Charbar opens next summer.

Slightly off topic, but an old friend of mine used to be a social worker and one of his clients was a hopeless alcoholic whose flat was littered with Dial-A-Bottle flyers. As long as this poor fellow could drag himself to the door, they would sell him booze.

Now I'm wondering how bad does one have to be to be blacklisted from Dial-A-Bottle and how did you find that out?

Yeah, I don't know why I haven't yet. Meh, regardless, I look forward to the high yet comfortable density of the East Village. I really hope that by the time the East Village reaches 11 000 people, that the Beltline's density can also be encroaching upon 20 000/ km2. It's only around 10 000/ km2 right now, without the Stampede grounds included, so I guess that kind of hope is a bit pie-in-the-sky, but still it should be something the city strives for and works hard towards.

Calgary could literally achieve a belt of high density, completely encircling the central business district, with each the Beltline, West End, Eau Claire, Chinatown, and East Village all achieving densities over 15 000/ km2. We have a long way to go for that to happen, but if the city can keep up with this pace of intensification over suburbanization, it could be possible by 2030 (around when the metro hits 2 million)

Called them super late at night on my cell phone with a couple of buds after drinking quite a few already. Not sure why we thought 3 of us would be able to tackle a 24 so late and after so much to drink already. They came, they rang the doorbell, we sat in silence in the dark and didn't answer. They waited for quite some time. They called us back later, my friend answered, did his best oblivious father impression, said it was just him and the wife at home upstairs, but they had some teenagers in the basement having a sleepover. Said maybe the kids were making a prank call and he would have to talk to them later, but he was really tired and had to get to work in the morning. This conversation lasted about half an hour, the entire time with my friend doing an old man voice, in some weird accent. One of the funniest moments of my life.

Nice and here I thought you received a number that was previously banned. So one can be a messy drunk but never stand up your delivery driver.

I was cruising the CMLC's website and came across this rendering of the 5th Street Square that I hadn't seen before. Not too sure my feelings on this one but I was kind of hoping for something with a bit more splash that would better tie the two large developments along the Riff together.

According to the website, construction will occur over this summer and it will be open to the public by this fall. It also mentions that design of Celebration Square will begin this summer with construction occurring in 2015/2016.

A gas station has no place in the new urban utopia that is the East Village. It will be replaced by a hyper local food store and have electric vehicle charging stations outside of it (that are powered by hipsters riding stationary cargo bikes).

You know it's an art deco station at the mouth of the 'heritage district', they should keep it. And yes I believe the only gas station downtown. Plus there's no gas station in Inglewood either.

Isn't the Petro-Can, near the Blackfoot Truck stop, in Inglewood?
