Maybe (s)he is referring to activities that can't be advertised on this forum...LOL. Maybe the skulls and bones secret society sh*t that the wealthy like to do.

chill dude...no reason to get upset at ME for the last 10 pages of garbage not spawn on by me. Plus, it was a joke to lighten up the people about how ridiculous the conversation had gone off topic.

It was not targeted at you. I didn't quote you. It was a general shut up to everybody.

Forget Philly: Casino bidder now focused on New York

Days after withdrawing from the Philadelphia casino license process, Penn National Gaming filed an application to build a $750 million casino in New York.

Thank You for mentioning out loud , what I am sure some others were thinking .

And if you have the time , can you PLEASE post any up dated info on when construction will begin on projects like CITC , SLS , the W hotel ...... or if there is ANY truth to the rumor that the FMC tower ( may ) go from 730' up to as much as 900' .... Or as suspected , that info is just that ..... A rumor .
Once again summersm343 , Thanks .

Well I feel bad that iheartphilly thought I was singling him out and coming at him.

-CITC is beginning site prep. More serious work will begin "within the month."

-FMC is undergoing serious foundation/site prep work- would seriously be surprised if FMC goes to 900 feet. I think the final height is 730 feet. I think the rumor was for Cira II, which was stated to rise up to 900-1000 feet. However, I don't think Cira II is officially confirmed.

-SLS will break ground by the end of the year

-W Hotel will break ground no later than September 1st

Summersm343 for the win

One year long lurker here. Just coming out of hiding to give Summersm343 a shout out for being the savior, in every way, of the Philadelphia boards. I have never posted before and, honestly, have been considering leaving these boards b/c of the obnoxious back and forth between some members with their non-development chatter.

I love skyscrapers and news pertaining to new buildings. I live in CC and walk around keeping up to date on all of our new towers that will be rising. I have pictures, but haven't figured out how to post. There is also some construction that has been ignored recently, like the construction at 15th & Walnut, townhouses on front & spruce-ish, and more. Anyway, for now, I will continue lurking. AND...if FMC goes up to 900...I may need a tissue

Just trying to keep these threads on topic and civilized

Thanks for the support!

Post some pics!!! Start a flickr account. I just upload pics to my computer and then upload them to facebook but put the pictures on private in a few private albums so only I can see them. Then (since I have a Mac), I "copy the image location" and then click the little picture icon up to of the message box- it is next to the quote symbol which is next to the #

Then you paste the "image location" you copied there and click "Okay" and there you go!

Once you do it a few times you'll get the hang of it!

P.S.- with a PC/Windows computer it should say "Copy Image URL" instead of image location. Hope this helped in any way!

Or possibly early next year. There's apparently some asbestos removal/remediation that has to occur before serious demolition can take place, and that may not even begin until late fall or early winter (unless you have some updated info ).

Dranoff may try to get things going so he can complete SLS before 500 Walnut opens.

Either way it will be nice to see work get started, even if it is demo/site prep.

I'm leary of starting another off-topic debate so I'll just do this:

Remember when we argued about the Boyd instead of casinos? Those were the days. Anyway, as if the idea behind the Save the Boyd movement's pipedream of using the Boyd as a wasn't foolish enough before, now the future of the Prince Music Theater is in serious doubt, not to mention the Suzanne Roberts Theater being in dire straits. But hey, at least they saved the architectural marvel that is the Big Brothers' building.

Curtains for the Prince Music Theater?

I sure do! I was really liking the early renderings of the Kimpton/Monaco hotel proposal for that site. I guess the market turn, the opposition, and the timing of the project all came together to prevent anything from happening with that proposal.

Soooo the Please Touch Museum is apparently insolvent:

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/inq-phillydeals/InvestorsdemandPleaseTouchpaymillions.html

I predicted this a few years ago. They floated $60 million to build a huge complex miles away from Center City and tourists, with no ready access to public transportation. Bring it back near the parkway!

I've been there a couple times with my family and friends that come visit us. And there's always a healthy amount of people in the building. The problem with their business model is that it is heard to justify getting a membership and getting my repeat business if I'm not bringing someone their for their first experience. They should of found a better way of continuing to be "fresh" so that they can continue to generate new revenues sources, new memberships, and renewal memberships. Getting a piece of the tourist action can't hurt either but the logistics isn't as easy as if the museum was in Center City.

I'm probably not going to get a lot of support on this but, close the 341 exit on 76. It'll release the bottle neck that always happens there and force people to enter the park from Parkside Ave thus passing the museum. This is not going to solve all their problems but I would be happy and at the end of the day that's all that matters.
