I like where you're headed with that but that is a prohibitively expensive repositioning for a little bit of glory. That bird gets it all over the world as it is. And besides, what I've heard is a plane about 1/40th the size. (weight-wise)

Set to be on the KLM departure to AMS on the 28th at 15:20 what's the likely we get to be one of the early scheds off the new runway?

Barring a really strong westerly wind I'd say you have a very good chance of being on the new runway.

I'll be out of town for it, but I'm sure our local spotters will be getting plenty of pictures of all the action when the runway opens.

Agree with part of your post. A formation of former RCAF F-86, F-101, F-104, F-5, and F/A-18 would be sweet, smoky, and loud, but supersonic?

My guess is the WS 2pm arrival from YYZ. This flight is completely sold out when other flights on the 28th are not. The ACflight is wide open so it's not a likely candidate.

The first arrival will be telegraphed to ATC and will likely carry a few CAA brass and may be a camera crew.

The fun begins after the first arrival. AC851 due in 14:30 and AC845 due in 15:00. Add in the usual suspects and it will be a very busy afternoon for the new addition.

My only worry is that the existing runway despite its excellent spotting areas will be much less used as most of the heavy metal will be on the parallel..
I sure hope YYC sets some money aside to build some recreation spots on both sides of the runway..

August could be the first month to hit 1.5m. The numbers are spectacular, and I can't wait for the added gates later next year to push us to the next level.

I'm thinking WestJet will be key to major gains after the new addition opens up.
