I wish things were dense and urban enough within a mile of the loop that I wouldn't consider a 20+ floor TOD highrise a notable development at the Grand Blue Line stop.
I wonder if that just means I shouldn't consider it downtown?

Grand or Chicago. Any further up the Milwaukee corridor and pigs would have to fly before a 20 floor building got the go ahead.

I never said it was going to get approved, I just said it is being planned. Also, considering there is already a 20ish story TOD planned at both Chicago and Grand... This will raise your eyebrows so high they might fly off your face.

For whatever reason the re-clad/redevelopment of the bottom floor(s) of The Doral is taking forever, but it seems finished on the eastern side (fronting Beaubien Court). It looks nice - a bit lighter than the darkness and heaviness of the rest of the facade. A similar treatment along Michigan Ave would look quite decent.

I can't take it seriously when the skyline is out of place.

FYI, the huge parcel at the SE corner of Irving Park and Milwaukee just sold for $10 million:

This is not the TOD I was referencing (considering it is nowhere near transit), BUT I've heard that we should expect a New City sized development here. I'm not referring to the questionable planning aspect, but rather the "— load of retail with a residential tower" aspect. The city recommended a 20 story highrise here so who knows what we will get. Regardless, $10 million is a lot to pay for a parcel and not build something huge on it.

2 Downtown Observations

- Gray and white tower crane being erected at 1345 S Wabash site today.

- Old 200 N Michigan building now completely history. With the financing wrapped up at least a few months ago on the TJBC/bKL tower, and presumably all documents, permits etc either in place or will be imminently, I'm thinking we will have only the shortest of delays - or perhaps virtually none at all - between the time the last concrete pieces, bricks and rebar are hauled off the site, and the caisson rigs roll up.....

Real - or Fantasy - Roosevelt/Michigan Tower

If that isn't a real proposed tower by Crescent Heights, I really wish this architect (who seems very talented btw) would stop teasing us with these renderings.........if this were real, it might instantly jump to - or at least very near - the top of my favorite projects of this cycle......what a fantastic design....

I just love the idea of a single imposing slab of a tower for this parcel, to contrast with the more slender (although from certain angles, ompe does have the awkward proportion issues and it seems difficult or even impossible to use "slender" to describe it) towers on the block to the east....

I hope they build the connector street between Irving Park and Cicero... maybe some traffic relief for Six Corners.

Wrong corner, this is the section between Milwaukee and Irving Park. there is already a feeder to Irving from Milwaukee that allows people to turn west onto Irving because the left turn is banned at the actual intersection.

^There's like 6 proposals/developments out there that all look exactly like that, it's so hard to keep them straight.
