The type of people looking to buy for that price range in old city won't be the same type who are looking to buy in Fitler Square or Society Hill. Just aimed at different demographics. These won't be bought by families with grade school aged students.

Exactly. Are we really to the point of complaining about expensive homes being built bringing in wealth and well to do residents into our city generating tax dollars and keeping the Philly real estate market healthy?

I don't understand. Are we really complaining about that now?? Just ridiculous. This forum really has turned into a Philly.com comments section.

Are you people EVER happy about anything? Lol

Exactly. As for the WP site, the vision is for it to contain similar athletic and recreation space like Penn Park. I think that would be a much welcomed addition to Broad St as there aren't many nice large green areas in that area. This will be an improvement.

Trolled by a first poster? You made a stupid comment, end of story. I thought I'd join this forum after reading the comments for a few months now. There is a lot of misinformation that is circulating regarding a number of developments that I myself am actually working on. But obviously MikeNigh knows what he is talking about. So by all means, proceed with the discussion.

If you look on historical maps, WP's gym and natatorium lie on the site of former public park. So there is a history of green space on the site.

The Broad Street building definitely needs opening-up, however. It has the mass but not the aesthetics.

For those interested, serious decisions need to be made about numerous Montco County properties in downtown Norristown. I am hoping the right moves are made and in turn there is a positive impact on DT Norristown:

Should Montco sell or rehab its old county buildings?

Excuse my drunken stupor but , I thought I read ( 0n this blog ) that a revised city population count was due at the end of May . Has that been done , or am I still in a fog from excessive liquid consumption . The last I remember reading , the population was at 1.527 Mil . inside city limits ..... Yes ?

The 2013 updated population was released in May. The 2010 population was 1,526,006. The 2013 population was 1,553,165. So Philly has gained 27,159 people.

This bodes even better for Philadelphia than some of the cities on the list. I would imagine Los Angeles and D.C. are growing because the suburbs sprawl so far. But this really shows that Philadelphia is growing because people want to live in the city, not just because they're frustrated with three hour commutes.

Yeah! If we are reporting numbers quickly... we can now say Philly has 1.6 million people instead of 1.5 million people!!!!

and that's not sarcasm. When news reports come out about Philly, they are gonna be rounding our numbers, so that's kinda cool.

It's so weird, but Philadelphia really seems to be on an upswing right now and it's not getting a lot of press.

Lounge in a hammock orchard. Sit beneath an umbrella on an anchored barge overlooking floating flower gardens and the river. Drink Philly beer, eat Philly or boardwalkesque food, play bocce ball.…

None of the assets I work on have been mentioned on here recently so it would be irrelevant. Unfortunately, and of course there is no reason you have to believe me, but I am not allowed to discuss any ground up development/acquisitions per my companies confidentiality agreement. I do however read this thread quite often and will be happy to input any opinion based commentary being as I am a longtime Philadelphian and greatly enjoy watching the city move in the direction is has been over the past 15 years.

Thanks for the welcome

On another note the Sanctuary Lofts are done in Graduate Hospital.

Really hate the layout. For some reason the early 2000s metal tub air duct look and open walled bedroom overlooking the rest of the floor plate is now a philly staple.
