At least now with Wynne in power, we can look forward to moving forward with billions of dollars of new rail projects in all cities across the province in addition to the electrification of the commuter rail service and airport link in the GTA area. This is good new for Transit.

Plus smoother rollout for the DRL subway and dedicated transit "revenue tools" for longterm investment in transit...what I'm most looking forward to. Once all the new ridings are added next year an urban agenda will get hardwired into the province's DNA, good times are about to begin.

They has that same welcome to hell cover in 2011, and is probably their most famous cover. This is a rehash.

Thanks GM!

Wow, 310 000 per day on the CTrain. Numbers really getting up there!

616 000 for total transit, that is a solid increase!

Sometimes they skip some cities, no idea why.

Montréal with 2 243 000 for the STM + 78 600 for the AMT.

+- 2.35M total transit .

you can add the RTL( Longueuil) +STL(Laval)

RTL : 34 039 936 Annual ridership, 133 398 daily (2012)
STL : 20 million trips per year , +-1.666M per month

for the metropolitan area, it's over 2.5M trips per weekday

The number for AMT was 78 600, not 786 000.

Only members of APTA are on that list. Membership costs money.

While older, (april 2013) I found this photo to be an awesome visualization of how huge a project the Spadina subway extension is. This will be Finch West station upon completion, the interchange station for the Finch LRT.

Plenty of room, particularly to the bottom right.

There is already an office building going up on that site across from the greenish office building.

That said, the station will largely rely on transfers from the Finch bus / LRT, which is one of the highest ridership surface routes in the city. Just out of frame to the north (top) will be the main driver of ridership on the line, York University.

Curious, what's next for Calgary?

I know Tuscany will soon open but are there any more LRT expansions underway or about to start? Also what about the CTrain tunnel?

The next projects to start will be the new busways, after that, it will be the 203 LRT into the Southeast, possibly accompanied by the 201 Eighth Avenue Subway.

We just opened an entire new line a year ago, a two station extension 10 months ago, and opening a 2 kilometer extension in 4 months It's probably time for a bit of a break. Hopefully by 2015 or 2016 the city will have a solid timeline for 203 construction. I think the routing for the North Central part of the 203 line will be finalized later this year. I voted for the Centre Street alignment, undergound to 24 Avenue.
