There's a statistic that Coun. Michael Walters likes to mention as he talks about the need for more housing units in core neighbourhoods.

"Since 1971, our mature neighbourhoods have lost 114,000 people under the age of 40," he said. "If we think about the kinds of population and density we need in older neighbourhoods for them to be sustainable, then we have to start looking at ways of making it easier for the development community, builders, and buyers to be successful in mature neighbourhoods."...

I assume you mean CoE tower, and not a separate one that we haven't heard about yet?

Very of the moment, Toronto, but I am ok with that here... so long as we dont get 20 of these. My bigger concern is the first 20-30'.

Rising rents spur home construction

BY BILL MAH, EDMONTON JOURNAL

EDMONTON - The good news for apartment-hunters is that the supply of vacancies in the Edmonton region has edged up — if ever so slightly.

The bad news? Average rent rose by a much greater margin.

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. released its annual spring rental market on Wednesday, which gives a snapshot of rents and vacancies in Alberta’s urban centres as of April.

“Rising demand in recent years has encouraged new rental construction in Alberta, which has added to the supply of rental apartments,” said Lai Sing Louie, CMHC regional economist.

“These additions helped to offset increased rental demand through net migration, resulting in a stable vacancy rate in April 2014.”

Awful concrete balonies that don't let the sun it or you to look out - very dated. It should be a design requirement to allow the sun in not prison like.

Exactly... much more contemporary and welcomed. It will not be precast as per 109st/jasper stuff.

Based on the Twitter hashtags from Lamb, it's North not Jasper House. He had originally listed the hashtag as Jasper House, but has since corrected it.
