and

"Expo Line to Lougheed Town Centre (or Production Way - University)"

So many people will get lost and totally overwhelmed by the sheer differences of the instructions.

So its must more logical and idiot proof that the three Skytrain lines are distinctly named. So it should be....

"Expo Line to King George"

"Millenium Line to Lougheed Town Centre (or Production Way - University)"

"Evergreen Line to VCC / Clarke (and eventually Arbutus)"

Its much much more crystal clear...for the sake of the travelling public.
How stupid are our tourists and newcomers if they can't figure out a line split? Besides, Canada Line splits already and it didn't seem to be a problem for the locals or the thousands of tourists that took it during the Olympics.

You have no idea...

There were so many instances when I am standing at the North side of Georgia and Granville and tourists ask me, holding a map, where the Canada Line Station is, which is literally across the street!

Loads of cities have metros with lines that divide or split. If it's all clearly diagrammed and destination-marked, I don't see the problem.

I think I get it: You're saying TransLink/EGRT is the scorpion, and it's just in their nature to promise noise reduction and traffic abatement and then to turn around and do something entirely different, causing grief for area residents.

Maybe we should just number the trains with letters...

A for Waterfront - Airport
C for Waterfront - Richmond
E for Waterfront - King George
G for VCC/Clark - LaFarge Lake
M for Waterfront - Lougheed or Production

B for Waterfront - Commercial Broadway (if needed)
S for SeaBus

Instead of having all the tabs and colours, we could just have, on signage and maps:

Metrotown [E] [M]
Commercial-Broadway [B] [E] [G] [M]
Lougheed [G] [M]
Waterfront [A] [B] [C] [E] [M] [S]

In my case, years ago I was waiting at Waterfront for the Expo Line train, and was asked "Do you know if the Yellow train is running today? We've been here for a while trying to get to Metrotown but only seen White and Grey trains".

They were a bit shocked & confused when I showed them on the platform map that EVERY train from Waterfront goes past Metrotown.

My train arrived & they were still on the platform debating what the map was showing them when I left. I hope they made it before the mall closed.

Below is a never before seen or photographed (by our usual contributors) image of the Coquitlam Central Station in the Evergreen Line Facebook page.

Yup. It sure seems like we don't get that many updates of Coquitlam Central Station.

Not the best shots, but I just wanted to share the progress over on North Road. It looks like they're getting ready to move the gantry crane over to position the next segment of guideway.

Thnkas!

Coquitlam Central (outside platforms) has a different bent design than Burquitlam and Lincoln - where the gantry just passes through and places segments - maybe the guideway here will be concrete I-beams?

I think it will be ,for sure I-beams, and I suspect the gantry crane will start where those blue forms are. The curve may even be steel, similar to Lougheed. I cannot imagine the gantry crane starting from Coquitlam Central Station (especially given the seemingly sharp curve from the get go).

There are also lots of very noticable progress between Douglas / Lafarge Lake and Lincoln. So far at Douglas / Lafarge up to just before the Coquitlam Library, it seems the guideway (based on the columns being erected) will likely be I-beams. The part for the gantry crane will just be at Pinetree Way (by the mall) up until just after the crossing beside the Coquitlam Library (which would be similar to the Clarke Road crossing).

The gantry will start 1 pillar away from the station. The next column (being block by the station column furthest away from camera) is similar to the ones in North Road but there's an extra support on the west side probably to support the I-beam. The next 2 columns look the same as the North Road columns although they're still under construction. They look rather low though.. not sure how buses can pass under them..

And speaking of columns, I just noticed one column near Lincoln Station also got extra tall pads, similar to the one near Burquitlam. It is similar distance away from the station, so I wonder if they are actually done on purpose...

Now I'm wondering if it's for conduit for a transction power substation? But most of those just travel up the outside of the guideway.

PS - all the pads on the Canada Line near Marine Drive Station seem tall (rather than short).

Maybe its the signature trademark of the builders having those tall pads, since they are essentiall the same for both lines...

Horrible image due to the fence, facing the sun, and the fact I only had 2 min to take the pic and make my connection.. But here's the first gantry column, immediately east of Coquitlam Central Station...

I see what you mean about the buses - maybe they'll excavate for the roadway to Lougheed Hwy (is the grade of Lougheed Hwy noticeably lower than this site?)
But I guess the entire station elevation is low because the line passes under Mariner Way.
So it looks like the bent that you show will be the station entrance.
