It definitely has improved over the last few decades. I think that's for multiple reasons. 1) The cities along the river have embraced it and make an effort to keep it clean, and they keep it clear of the things that UteNation mentioned. 2) Utah Lake is much cleaner than it was 20-30 years ago. When the source of the river is cleaner the river will obviously be much cleaner.

As for day lighting City Creek, day believe there has been discussions to still do so, from west of 1-15 to the Jordan River. I'm not sure exactly what the culverted route is vs the original route, depending on where either of those is, it could be a nice feature for a future redeveloped parking lot across N. Temple from the Fair Park.

Gotta love Good Ole Geneva Steel... Can you imagine if that place was still full steam with today's population growth?

I rode my bike last weekend from SLC to Daybreak and used the Jordan River Parkway for part of the trip and any place the water is agitated there is a smell. I've also floated just about the entire length of the Jordan from 143rd south to where it crosses Redwood in NSL (not all in one day) and floated the stretch from 6400 S to 3300 S dozens of times. It's hard to describe the smell, but its worse on the SLC past the diversion canal at 2100 S.

The smell reminds me of the Great Salt Lake Stink.. Sometimes when the wind blows in a certain way, the smell is ripe..

Even if you look at the original ad put on the LDS business College website (interestingly enough). They even have it listed as season's at City Creek.. As do a few other websites floating around still.

If you go back even further and look at the renderings.. The sign says "city Creek Apartments". I wish they would have turned out like the renderings because they look much nicer :/

I'm confused...what was the name change? You originally said it was changed to: Seasons on Sidecreek.

It wasn't. They may have changed the 'on' to at - but that wasn't what you originally said they changed it to. So, what is it?

The fact that they change their name does not annoying me in the slightest.... What annoys me is ridiculous fraudulent lawsuits.. And this is merely one example. I also agree that it was a wise decision.. Because the LDS church is a multibillion dollar operation.. They can afford more lawyers :-)

And I'm not trying to bash the LDS church in fact I regularly defended them on here.. I just feel that this was a really distasteful thing of them to do.. Your correct.. on and at the do have different meanings.. For example I'm on North Temple.. Or I'm at Library Square... But regardless of what those words mean.. It legally does not mean anything to the LDS church nor is it any of their business... Why.. Because it's not called the Seasons At / on City creek center.. Is that so hard to understand.

Who cares if people know city creek center as city creek.. That's the LDS churches fault for choosing a long 🞵🞵🞵 name that nobody wants to say.. If it was to be known as city creek then why didn't they just call it city creek.. I'll tell you why.. City Creek cannot be trademarked... Nor can the LDS church pretend that they have a trademark on that name.. City Creek is open Game anybody can use it.. And the church is just going to have to live with it because it's not theirs.. they don't own it... And they can't buy it.. They can only scare people with a legal expenses.. And eventually they will try to scare somebody that would rather make a point...

After checking with the lds legal dept and mcconkie, there was no law suit filed against the condo development by them and they are unaware of one being filed by ccc

This thread has been painfully boring these past few days with talks of criminal rights, naming rights and now if the Jordan River smells or not. Surly there has to be some development news going on.

With eight little golden shovels kicked into the dirt, construction finally began Thursday on the newest branch of the Salt Lake City Public Library.

The Marmalade Branch, to be located at 500 North and 300 West, will serve as an anchor of redevelopment in the sloping district north of West High, with future commercial and residential expansion.

Properties in the development area will have multistory mixed-use buildings, including town homes and condominiums, as well as open space. Anything more specific is "too far in the future," said library spokesman Andrew Shaw.

It's about time! This was going to be built back in 2006-7. Anybody want to post the image of the model from the link?

Did anybody see the front page of USA Today today? The front page shows the new Federal Courthouse in downtown with yellow police tape in front. The headline is "Crips in Utah, Gang Culture Invades an Unlikely Turf"

I don't mind the borg cube. Yeah, It could be more interesting, but I think it's cool. Especially at night, love the warm lights inside. I'm happy to see it get shown off.

So, because I'm a political junkie, I went through and figured out the breakdown of the 2012 presidential election within Salt Lake City. I know it's quite a bit late, but it's interesting none the less.

While Mitt Romney handily won Salt Lake County, he lost Salt Lake City by a significant margin - with Obama carrying 63% of the entire city vote. That's a significant margin and shows just how big the divide is between Salt Lake and the rest of the county (Romney won Salt Lake County with 58% of the vote - while Obama managed to win the county in 2008).

The only other Salt Lake County city Obama won in 2012 was South Salt Lake.

I assume you mean Summit County? Wasatch County is still quite conservative.
