I am not so sure about that... but greyhound would work very well there. Add in an ETS route change and call it a day.

Anyone think Spruce Grove will get some glass towers??? We built a home there, and it is adjacent to the retail development West Wind that will start soon...I would love to see some 15 storey glass towers rise around there...
Not for a long long time... although there was that one mid-rise with a bunch of glass if I recall.

Looking at old articles, the airport authority leased the land to VIA for the station. So, did the city take the land over as part of the airport relocation?
From 2003:
Quote:
Greyhound bus passengers may be stranded without public transit from a new terminal if a proposal to move from downtown to a site near the City Centre Airport goes ahead.
"It doesn't make a lot of sense for us to put a new route out there," said Ken Koroteski, director of service development for Edmonton Transit. "The problem we have is that the (new bus station) wouldn't generate enough passengers for us to warrant spending the money to extend our service. The Greyhound buses come in very sporadically and there are other areas in the city that are on overload," he said.
Earlier this week, Greyhound officials confirmed their plans to shut down the existing bus station, a 22-year-old facility located at 103rd Street and 103rd Avenue. The company plans to open a new facility alongside the city's VIA Rail station near the City Centre Airport, just south of the Yellowhead Trail.
Then from 2005:
Quote:
In October 2003, Greyhound vice-president Dave Leach said they needed more space and easier highway access. But Leach said Tuesday he [Greyhound] has abandoned a tentative plan to move near the Via Rail station, west of City Centre Airport, because the site was too small and access is difficult.

Agree. Although it wouldn't fly on Whyte as it doesn't fit the historical architecture of the area. Maybe further west or east on Whyte outside of the historic area.
A jaw-dropping new building is rising on the NAIT campus to meet equally high expectations, serving students in science, technology, health and business.
If this is considered slick and jaw-dropping then Edmonton still has a far way to go AFAIC
