The public space/main floor interaction will save this beast, but I do not like what I am seeing.

Perhaps its too early to tell, but so far I am really disappointed with this project.

I really thought this was going to be a game changer like Woodwards, perhaps I set my expectations too high.

Ill reserve my judgment for the complete build out, with the residential tower in place.

You guys should see it in real life. Looks much better than in cellphone pictures...

I am pleased with the office and curious to see the residential tower next.

It looks good in person.
All the detailing looks uniform over its given surface plane (if that makes sense) so it doesn't look as "busy" as you'd think.

The glass support system in the cube looks good - those spider claws on steel posts rather than mullions.

I'm positive on it. There are still a bunch of cosmetic additions that need to be done before this thing is even close to being finished.

For those who hate this project, let them hate it. It's not the end of the world. I like it only because there isn't a lot more going on in town to like, lol!

Remember that this project is by Henriquez - if they wanted a glass box (or curved box) they would have gone with MCMP.

Hard to tell from the pic - I'll have to check front-on to see if each "V" lines up with the one below
(or is staggered like at the Wall Centre False Creek performance venue).

PS Note the narrow window pane on the right side of the protruding box.
Another example of not ordering custom sized/ spaced windows or sizing the facade for the window repeat!!

I thought I was really going to dislike this when it was ~1/3 done, but as it's been completed I've really come around. While it's certainly not my favourite office project at the moment I do like it overall and am excited to see how it will interact with the rest of the development/lighting/highlight features etc. Depending on how the rest of the project works out it could still be a highlight project.

Henriquez seems to excel at the details and the finishes that really make a tower pop, so while the tower of late seems a bit underwhelming I bet once all the bells and whistles are added it really comes into its own.

The model depicts lighting on the underside of the overhanging cube. It will be interesting to see how it lights up the street and sidewalk:

Interestingly, the cross-section covered section looks almost exactly the same as the roof of the Olympic Oval, except that instead of Glulams, they are using a steel arch. Unfortunately, the curvature of the wood is too extreme for the 2" x 4" used in the Oval panels, nonetheless, it looks very similar.
