Is the current hole just for the first tower?

Thanks. After all of these months of excavation, I have now realized this. I was under the impression, the entire site would be excavated and built up to grade; then first tower will only be built.

The parking structure on the right in the last pic will be where the second tower is built eventually.

The west tower (178 meters/584 feet) will not even begin site prep until the parking under the east tower (247 meters/810 feet) is complete, due to strict rules regarding parking spaces in downtown Calgary. Thankfully we are getting the main tower built first. It's my hope that the west tower will be re-imagined into a 270+ meter monster, as it is almost directly in the centre of the CBD, and would be a great spot for a new tallest.

Shakman, just for reference, this will be Canada's tallest office tower built since 1988, and will be the third tallest office in the country, sixth tallest overall. Calgary's current tallest, The Bow (236 meters), is currently the fifth tallest overall in the country, and was also the tallest office built since 1988.

The scale I am using is roof height, as spires are completely inconsequential.

This building is really cool, kind of looks like one of the Manhattan West towers.

Will definitely dominate in Calgary though

That's a GOOD thing - as we don't have to "cheat" with spires and/or other attachments to attain real height.

I have been trying to find a construction thread for Las Vegas - on their page and have not been able to locate one. Does anyone out there know the link to it - if there is one???

I agree.

The entire northeast quarter of the site is now flat concrete So happy to see the actual construction commence!

A 2000 tonne raft slab. That's a good sized pour!
