The Mink Mile is Toronto specific. I don't know of another area in the world that uses the same moniker. The term fell out of favour as it was seen as politically incorrect, but it's the perfect name for this strip. It connotes luxury and gives a nod to this nation's fur trade at the same time. Besides, walking down the street in your mink used to be the ultimate symbol that you had 'made it'. Many a Canadian woman did precisely that.
I'm hoping that they'll one day reclaim this small bit of Toronto history and put 'Mink Mile' on the street signs.
