Welcome to the forum. That's an awesome shot. It's crazy how far you can see the skyline from when approaching the city too since it's so flat. In comparison, Hamilton's is about the same height but has very few viewing angles due to the escarpment.

Where is that taken from? Deep into St. Boniface? Transcona? I can't orient myself at all in relation to that angle. The Leg where it is throws me off.

Yeah it's Winnipeg's best angle. I've seen it a few times on this site--it's probably five years old and missing a few decent sized newer buildings (for example the MB Hydro building behind the legislature isn't even visible here).

I think it was taken by trueviking from somewhere in st. vital but I could be wrong on both pieces of info.

I'd love to see this in a couple years once a few more buildings are up.

Fort Garry. That's Pembina in the foreground. I'm guessing it's from one of the highrises around Pembina and Bishop.

If you think thats something, next year 1 York, Harbourplaza and Ten York will redefine the Toronto skyline you think you know. With the exception of the CN Tower the Toronto skyline will be unrecognizable from that perspective.

The Bloor-Yorkville Strip.

Don't think there is of yet a Toronto specific nickname for that area.

Always loved the view of Ottawa from Gréber. Nice to see a few new buildings sort of "pierce" the skyline (EDC, 90 Elgin, 150 Elgin).

Cathedral Hill is making a much needed impact on the west skyline.

The Mink Mile is Toronto specific. I don't know of another area in the world that uses the same moniker. The term fell out of favour as it was seen as politically incorrect, but it's the perfect name for this strip. It connotes luxury and gives a nod to this nation's fur trade at the same time. Besides, walking down the street in your mink used to be the ultimate symbol that you had 'made it'. Many a Canadian woman did precisely that.

I'm hoping that they'll one day reclaim this small bit of Toronto history and put 'Mink Mile' on the street signs.
