Who gives a shit about low density row-housing? Get over it! Not all cities are going to have this type of housing stock.

Stop taking cheap shots at photos people take the time to post. It is pointless.

Thanks for taking the time to post and ignore some of the idiots from out east. They are like a broken record when it comes to row housing.

To be clear I don't hear anyone insulting delirium's photography, I hear them discussing the content of the photos, and considering SSP is an urban issues discussion forum so that's what it's here for. It certainly isn't here to abuse people who come online and discuss their urban preferences. A person isn't an idiot for liking row housing more than detached suburban housing and there's no reason to be abusive or call someone names for it.

This super-reactionary hyper sensitivity is getting ridiculous...

Thanks for the picture. It's a style of housing not often seen in most parts of Canada.

My two favorite photos of Vancouver so far this trip, completely unedited. I'll post an entire photo set when I get back home and have some time to touch-up the exposure and saturation.

That's a very nice photo of the West Vancouver mansions. Those houses cost 5-20 million dollars each and have endless views of Downtown and all of Metro Vancouver, the Strait of Georgia and Vancouver Island mountains. The views are simply out of this world and like someone said, building materials are top-notch and landscaping is very nicely done.

It's surely a very appealing area to live if you are filthy rich. The only problem is that being so high up the mountain ridge, rain clouds do block your view. And then there is the snow and getting up there the steeps streets during winter time...

^ You know if anything is planned for the space behind the library?

There's a building site ("sister site") that will probably be residential and then Dalhousie owns the south end of the block with the surface parking spots.

Those filthy rich sure have pressing problems. Just getting through the day is a huge accomplishment.

I'd have to agree. White Rock manages this sort of development quite a bit better. It might be that the mansion architecture in WR is a bit more uniform and fits in to the environment better.

As for West Vancouver, I'm not a big fan of how the housing looks grouped together (I'm not a big SFH guy as it is), but I can't deny how unbelievable some of these mansions are up close. I've had the opportunity to visit a couple, and yeah.....wow.

Thanks for the picture, Delirium.

One for kool maudit...

I snapped this on my drive home this morning. The vast majority of cabbies in St. John's are Newfoundlanders - but those who aren't, more likely than not, tend to be from the former Yugoslavia - especially Kosovo and Macedonia.

Spied the Kosovar heraldry and had to snap it for ya.
