Haha, love it. That plane is in a photo on my living room wall here in Fredericton!

The town shaking thing is so true. The Antonov landed here once, it was legendary. My mom was working at the mall at the time in Bargain Giant, they actually had to stop serving customers for a few minutes on account of the noise/vibrations. Imagine a monster truck pulling up next to a dog house. That's what the Antonov looked like with our terminal...

If the houses weren't there, I'd have expected to be about half the height of the trees in the background. Your trees are massive compared to here.

They also have lots of nice landscaping and gardens, which is very important to me.

Yep. Individually the houses are nice, but grouped tightly together like that they're little better than McMansion sprawl.

I don't mind it. The houses seem to have expensive building materials and they're fairly densely packed compared to similar settings along the North American west coast.

Double the lot sizes and put these on flat cul-de-sacs and I'd hate them, though.

It's just not my kind of architecture.

I prefer this by far : https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Lon...963a5addd52a99

I feel it may be the scale, and yes, a bit of the architecture people don't like. The style is similar to White Rock, but I just feel White Rock pulls it off much better.

The West Van photo area is a little different when not seen through a zoom lens - here's what it looks more like in reality (on Google), showing the area at the very top:
