Only AC would buy $300M airplanes and not double check that their seats would fit.

Think if somebody got into an accident and fell into a coma shortly after AC placed their 787 order. They wake up and AC still has not taken a single one. Surely it's 2009, they'll say... then they see a calendar on the wall. The horror.

You don't realize how decent YYC noise abatement efforts are until you move to YEG where they don't give a shit about it. It's what you sign up for living near an airport, but the difference is insane.

Yes I stand corrected, QR is the first to deploy reverse herringbone onto the 788. However the seats are different between AC and QR.

Finally I would not want to be in seat row 6 on the QR 788.

Flight check today! Included work is landing on the new runway, which is part of ILS certification. And no they are not the first people to land on it, that happened yesterday with a couple C206's filled with YYCAA people.

They were private aircraft departing from Airdrie. I think this was a last minute thing because they needed the ILS on the new runway but YYCAA wanted to be the first to use it. And if you spend 1 billion on it and do all the work I think that's fair.

The new runway isn't part of our manoeuvring area so it's uncontrolled by us until it opens. So it's just like an airstrip / helipad / float plane surface in our zone and we treated it as such.

Looks like YYC East Tower frequency is 118.875, if you want to program your scanners in advance. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

Today YYC-JFK and YYC-YXS kicked off.

WS1680 has already arrived at JFK.

WS167 scheduled to depart to YXS in about 3 hours from now at 2200.

Wait a minute, there's a direct flight to JFK again? Hot diggety dog! Is it permanent or just seasonal? This would be very welcome news for the CW household. I'm tired of having to decide between a stopover in Chicago/Toronto and thus wasting a few hours, or having to slog it from Newark, and thus wasting a few hours.

WS is flying YYC-JFK daily for the summer season. It stops around October I think.

You'd think that there would be enough demand to keep it going all year round. I'm sure most people who take the AC flight to Newark would prefer to go to JFK.

It's fine when you're going to NYC, but not so much when your final destination is Long Island (where my in-laws are and where we tend to stay). You have to travel through the city, and that can easily add 1.5-2 hours more to the trip, depending on the time of day.

The WS/TCX Boeing 757 AB <-->Hawaii winter season wrapped up last night. Will see this return again in December for one more season. A few hiccups this winter, most notably an unscheduled diversion to PDX, but other than that, near to full loads almost all winter and alot of vacationers happy to escape the brutal winter we've had here and to do it direct was a bonus!

Yes AC 1896 goes out today at about 19:30.

AC 1897 arrives at about 18:00 from LAS with the aircraft returning to LAS for the night.

I still believe YYC is perfectly capable of supporting YYC-OGG year round. Really wish AC or WS could get on that for us.
