Aren't there also roughed in tunnels for stations at Bankers Hall for the 8th Ave Subway?

I think it's good foresight by a company to do this actually, simply because it will gain the benefit of having direct access to underground LRT as a building amenity .. In 20 years, if a tenant is choosing between two buildings like Brookfield and The Bow - the office space itself might be dated compared to new space on the market .. But having direct LRT access like that would be a big benefit

And I wouldn't think it's a ton of extra cost to dig a little more and pour some more concrete...

if I could have one thing, I'd have a subway system throughout downtown and the beltline - it can be above ground everywhere else, I just want that sweet sweet core subway.

*sigh*

Bankers has a knockout wall, no tunnel unfortunately.

From today... they've gotten a lot deeper in the south side of the site since my last update, looks to be about 10 feet or so.

You'd think the water table would be pretty high in the core. No issues with that?

I don't mean to alarm anyone, but I think the ground must have caved in at Brookfield Place, because this thing went down another 7 - 10 feet since my update last week! Moving at warp speed! I have a feeling they are at the bottom now, it is so freaking deep it's crazy!

This one should reach grade around December / January next year.

I have to assume that the deepest part, in the zoomed in photo, is the very bottom. It looks like 22 meters, so hopefully it is.

I just did a rough estimate, judging by the two ladders. The smaller one looks like the equivalent of 1 floor, the taller looks to be 2 floors. With that in mind, it is now approximately 7 storeys deep, also known as... the bottom.

Where does all the excavation go? Are they building a mountain somewhere?

Yes- Little known fact.. this is how we built the Rocky Mountains around Banff. It has done wonders for tourism.

More or less. I don't think you'll be coming home to a crane foundation though, but it should be close. Much work remains.

How many cranes would you need on site for a building this size?
