You should all check out the CCD's list of 2013-2017 developments. Pretty quick rundown on a lot of stuff we've chatted about plus a snazzy picture for each and some start/end/$$ stats.
CCD 2013-2017 development rundown

The State of Center City 2014 report is also available today. About to read it now but though you all might want to head over and read it. I know I use the facts from the 2013 report and the PEW report in work all the time.

The Gateway Project has been active since 1988. I would not hold my breath on this one.

That concept (i wouldn't call it a project quite yet) is so old the original designs were prepared on papyrus by an architect named Daedelus, if I recall correctly from the National Geographic feature I read reporting on a recent Nile delta excavation of cuneiform tablets in which this info was first recorded, along with notes about the progress of the Peloponesian War and the latest scandalous gossip relating to contemporary personalities like Helen of Troy, Oedipus, Electra, Dido, the Sirens, and the Gorgon's beautician, among others.

I would say the odds of Realen developing this site are slightly more likely than Carl Marks moving forward on Columbus Boulevard, and slightly less likely than that Saudi prince's plan to build a single-span suspension bridge/megamall/themepark from Dubai to his estate on the French Riviera.

Rendering of the Gallery on Page 22

HOLY S**T!!!!!

It looks to be like a COMPLETE redevelopment of the Gallery with 3 new tower on top- two look to be 400+ feet, the third looks to be between 200-300 feet

I'm not to keen on Walmart at Broad & Washington, but if they do build one there, please please please put about a dozen floors of residential on top of it.

Philaphilia did a great writeup of this about a year ago that City Paper sadly seems to have deleted. Ammazarite, do you have these backed up anywhere? We NEED to preserve these accounts of dead a$$ proposals and empty lots for future generations!

My understanding as well. Planned as a mixed use development way before I was even into skyscrapers, but shocker, only the garage was built.

CITC drawing satellite business already?

Is this a direct result of the CITC? They don't mention the reason for the relocation but a description of their business reads like a mini Comcast support center.

S3 Group, a global leader at enhancing the performance and service readiness of video platforms across connected devices...The company also today announced that it has expanded its North American operations with the opening of a new office in Philadelphia, to support new and existing business in the region.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/101604418

doh..should have read the whole article:

StormTest Development Center is the leading video test automation platform, validating services delivered to more than 140 million viewers, across 28 countries. In North America, S3 Group's StormTest products are used by leading pay TV operators, including: Comcast, Mediacom, Time Warner Cable, Videotron, and others.

Why yes it is...

froma nother site

S3 Group, maker of a multiscreen video test and validation platform called StormTest, said it’s opening up a new office in Philadelphia to support new and existing business in the region, and, specifically, to accommodate growth it's seeing in the cable sector.

Agreed. The article read like "Despite popular opinion, Center City sucks just as bad as the rest of that sh*thole city."

I'm guessing pretty recently...could not find out when that office suite was leased online. The expansion in Philly includes a couple newly listed job openings at what appears to be this location for a SCM Support Engineer and an Embedded Support Engineer.

It's so odd for them to write an article and cherry pick the few things that had a negative trend in CC between the years and not provide a balanced perspective on the positives. It's the essence of the Negadelphian regional outlook.

All other cities around the country would have written the exact opposite article, right or wrong--but we just constantly have to be down on ourselves. It's strange. I think the editors of our newspapers (obviously a declining business) are much to blame as they know what drives clicks and discussion. Negative sensationalism (AKA trolling) is the best way to do so.

yes negative and misses some positives

But to me the convention attendance is an issue (even tourist drops though can more influenced by special events i.e. the art museum etc.)

Union and labor costs make the convention center less attractive and thus less hotel rooms etc. May impact all the proposals if believed the market cant bare it

Also - jobs and more of them are needed - plain and simple

Are you engaging the author directly or the editorial board or who? If you email the author directly (and politely), they almost always give you a response.
