This Edmonton arena project is likely not getting the play it deserves. Throw a new LRT line into the mix and it's a seriously impressive development.

What an amazing catalyst this arena will be for this end of downtown. Epcor is about to get some new friends. Looking great Edmonton

Fatty McButterpants is a resident troll on the Ottawa threads. Don't bother listening to anything he says.

Thanks for the updates on the Edmonton project feepa!

This project stands on its own merits.

The city of Edmonton threw a new LRT line into the mix and its seriously right beside it.

Why? SkyDome actually stands out now as being unique apart from all the wannabe Ebbets Field, Camden Yards clones.

Went on a tour of ballparks last summer through the midwest, and the red brick stuff is the new cookie cutter. Every stadium is basically the same "retro" look with a mural to something local here and there and a different thing that lights up or mascot that goes down a slide when a home run is hit by the home team.

The only stadiums I went to that were at all unique with any character were Wrigley Field and SkyDome shockingly. Cleveland, Minnesota, Chicago White Sox, Milwaukee and Detroit all have the same stadium with very subtle variations.

Seriously? —? Minnesota, Milwaukee and Chicago have the same stadium? Can you share whatever you are smoking please. I'm sure the rest of us would love a good high.

I agree that SkyDome stands out. It is one of the few stadiums in MLB that is sterile and devoid of any character. Common dude, its a concrete bunker that doesn't have any unique characteristics other than the dome. You definitely don't get inspired or fired up for baseball going there. Its a multipurpose stadium and it does that job okay, but IMO its better to do one thing great than to merely do a satisfactory job of multiple things.

I have to say, though, after going to the Big Owe for the preseason games I appreciate the Dome a lot more.

Any sense of what the proportions were in Montreal between locals and out of towners in the crowd?
