Stadium update from the City of Ottawa:

The new wooden Veil that wraps around the south stands continues to come together.

At the suites in the south stands, the glass windows and doors are being installed.

At the top of the south stands, work on the Veil continues.

Workers are now installing new metal hand railings in the south stands.

The west end of the stadium field is a busy place as work proceeds on the new plaza between the north and south stands and on one of the new buildings along Bank Street.

Workers bolt together one of the large, upper sections of the Veil as they prepare to hoist it into place over the south stands.

One of the upper sections of the Veil is lowered into place.

Workers secure one of the upper sections of the Veil to the back of the south stands.

Looking across the Aberdeen Square where pavers are being installed, at some of the new retail buildings.

Hamilton was always behind Ottawa. Hamilton started construction over half a year later and had to build from scratch, not a 50% reno 50% new build. Add to that Hamilton's opening date is 8 days later and its expected that Ottawa be ahead of Hamilton

Also neither stadium has started installing the field of play which you know, is kind of important.

Will be odd to have this arena district with skyscrapers next to cheap 4.5 storey housing. Please say it's rental.

i'm excited to have them back in the league and landsdowne park is a great development. now for that 10th cfl team...

I really don't mind the Skydome, but at this point, the pride of Canada has to be BC Place. With honourable mentions to Commonwealth (it's got a classic something about it) and Olympic Stadium (just outside appearance here... The exterior design still doesn't look dated). Granted this is entirely subjective.

Re Skydome

Just imagine what it will look like as a baseball-only facility with grass and (more) dirt. The complaints should largely cease. Until that time, that nasty carpet will remain an MLB embarrassment quite frankly.

Grass will make a HUGE difference. I'm hoping they find a way to bring some natural light into the stadium while its closed ala BC Place. Also, it would be great to see the exterior clad in some red brick.
