Another exciting project U/C is the Gilead labs and office in the NE.

Gilead Alberta ULC, Gilead’s manufacturing facility in Edmonton, Alberta, handles development and manufacturing of investigational drugs, supplies active pharmaceutical ingredients for clinical research programs and contributes to new product launch supplies. To increase the speed of development of new pharmaceutical products, Gilead Alberta engaged Manasc Isaac to design a new, energy-efficient 3-storey, 6,500 m2 building containing labs and lab support spaces, office space and conference/meeting spaces.

A large Mechanical Penthouse and Basement garage for 30 vehicles provide support service space for the Lab floors. Complete heat recovery from the exhaust air stream of 40 fume hoods and a high-performance building envelope will provide significant annual energy use and cost reductions. The new Lab will be located on a 10-acre site in northeast Edmonton with room for 300 parking stalls, a large-scale chemical loading and storage area and for two future lab buildings of similar size and function.

I believe they will be de-commissioning their existing labs once the new complex is complete

A good friend is one of the head chemists out there. They're very excited about the expansion. Especially since a few years ago it looked like they were going to have to move to S.F. to keep a job with the company

TBD I believe... they are expanding fast and may need more space or retain existing.

Walk Edmonton

Help us find our way...

The City of Edmonton is looking for your input! As part of the “Walk Edmonton” project the City is interested in learning the best way to help people find their way around Edmonton as they walk, cycle or use transit. We want to know what helps you find your way and what information you find most useful. Most specifically, if a system of maps, apps &, signs to help people on foot find their way would be a useful addition to our city streets. All feedback is anonymous and will be used to inform the City’s business case for this project.

Survey open from April 14th to May 4th, 2014.

To learn more about this project and complete the on-line survey please visit: www.edmonton.ca/wayfinding

Something like this by late 2017 or so... not bad for the middle of downtown Edmonton.

Opus $185psf, a little high imo. You'll likely need to rezone as you can get more than 114 units in that size of a building.

Based on the oreintation it looks like its on the power centre side, not on the residential side. The way the article in the paper reads its on the other side and will be a greater impact to the residents.

Not a fan.

Design: in relation to other 2 buildings. And over all design.

Location: in relation to other 2 buildings.

Orientation: in relation to other 2 buildings.

I do like the increase in density in the area. And the fact they build using quality materials.
